Temperatures Much Too Warm For My Liking – Mid Michigan

Temperatures Much Too Warm For My Liking – Mid Michigan

Yesterday was just too hot to even step outdoors with highs reaching 93°F.  Fortunately, thunderstorms will be passing through later today and bringing cooler air with it.  On the down side, there is a chance for severe weather to develop.  This morning is breezy and mostly cloudy.  Walking outside is like going into a sauna. Our 10 AM temperature is 83°F (28°C), the humidity is 67%, and the dew point is 72°F (22°C).  Skies are mostly cloudy and storms are…

Heat In Lower Michigan, Devastating Floods In The Upper Peninsula

Heat In Lower Michigan, Devastating Floods In The Upper Peninsula

While my area is baking in 90° temperatures, heavy storms have wreaked havoc in Michigan’s Copper Country.  My daughter lived in Houghton for three years and I’m so happy that she isn’t there now.  I have attached a link to a local News source there: http://www.uppermichiganssource.com/content/news/Flooding-in-Houghton-County-485767571.html We have been fortunate that our rain has finally subsided and any that formed yesterday missed us.   Fortunately, another cool down is expected on Tuesday and that should bring us back to normal termperatures….

A Quiet Saturday Morning After Overnight Rain – Mid Michigan

Scattered showers and thunderstorms moved across our state during the overnight leaving 0.14″ in my gauge.  Radar is still showing a few but no large amounts are expected today.  The issue this weekend will be the heat with highs in the mid 80s to 90°F in the forecast. Our 8:45 AM temperature is 69°F (21°C), the humidity is 82% and skies are cloudy.  The dew point is 64°F (18°C) .  The pressure is 29.97 in and falling.  Winds are calm…

Clear And Dry For Our Friday Morning – Mid Michigan

Clear And Dry For Our Friday Morning – Mid Michigan

It seems like the perfect summer morning with light breezes, bright sunlight, and low humidity.  This has been quite an extended dry spell for us and it is welcome to be sure.  With all the rain we’ve had, the lawn mower has been working overtime and maybe it can get a rest for a change.  Our next chance for rain is Sunday and that is quite slim.  We’re waiting for this hot, dry summer that was predicted a few months…

Breezy and Cool This Thursday Morning – Mid Michigan

Breezy and Cool This Thursday Morning – Mid Michigan

This morning is cool although highs are expected to reach the low to mid 80s this afternoon.  No rain is expected over the next few days, so our lawn should have a chance to dry out.  The rain, which was in our forecast, remained well to our south.  This morning is very comfortable with low humidity and dew points, and it was nice having the windows open all night. Our 8:30 AM temperature is 64°F (18°C), the humidity is 60%…

A Dry Beginning To Our Tuesday With A Slight Chance of Rain Later – Mid Michigan

A Dry Beginning To Our Tuesday With A Slight Chance of Rain Later – Mid Michigan

Today won’t be as comfortable as yesterday with higher humidity and temperatures.  Monday was absolutely gorgeous with highs in the upper 70s, light winds, and very low humidity.  It was one of those days when you just didn’t want to come indoors.  Even my dogs were asking to go out every 15 minutes or so.  They don’t do that often.  My gardening is done and I’m very happy that it is.  We only have a 30% chance of rain today…

Welcome Sunshine For Our Monday Morning – Mid Michigan

Welcome Sunshine For Our Monday Morning – Mid Michigan

This morning is starting out with a lot of sun and breezy conditions after a wet weekend.  Our highs should also be closer to normal than what we have had recently.   We received 0.80″ of rain Saturday and into early Sunday, and our lawn is like a sponge once again.  I got more of my flowers planted yesterday afternoon and will finish today.  At least, with all the rain, it’s easy digging.  I’m planting mostly perennials  this year since I’m…

What Happened To Our Sunny Sunday – Mid Michigan

What Happened To Our Sunny Sunday – Mid Michigan

Today’s forecast called for a partly cloudy day, now that has changed.  I’m really getting tired of rain and I hope that the entire summer isn’t like this.  We received a total of 0.80″ from yesterday’s showers and that’s enough for awhile.  Our highs today will be about normal.  I still need to get out and plant the rest of my flowers.  I’m really behind this year as I usually have it done by Memorial Day. Our 9:45 AM temp…

A Rainy Morning In Mid Michigan

It was raining when I got up this morning and continues to do so.  There was 0.31″ in my gauge at 9 AM, and it has rained continuously since then.  I was going to finish planting my flowers but I guess that will wait for another day.  Temperatures today should remain cool with rain expected most of the day. Our 10:15 AM temp is 59°F (16°C), the humidity is 90%, and winds are from the ENE at 7 mph.  The…

Seasonable Weather Continues in Mid Michigan

Seasonable Weather Continues in Mid Michigan

Wow!  It’s hard to believe that the longest day of the year is just two weeks away.  This year is flying by and the fact that winter didn’t end for us until mid April is probably the reason.  This is the last week of school for area schools and it is always nice to have the buses off the roads, especially when one is trying to get to work on time.   Our temperatures will continue to be very summer-like into…
