Mid Michigan Weather

Yesterday was a complete washout with nearly continuous rain and a thunderstorm in the afternoon.  The Michigan State-Penn State game was postponed for 3.5 hours and the stadium was evacuated because of lightning.  Because of this storm, areas of Lansing were without power for awhile.  This is quite unusual for Michigan as we rarely have thunderstorms during football games here.  But it was well worth it for the MSU fans as their team was victorious (which was a surprise for…

We had one sunny day and now back to the clouds and rain.  At least our temperatures will remain mild for the next few days.  Today is expected to be pretty much a washout so no outdoor activities are planned.  Tomorrow could bring thunderstorms with a slight chance of severe for my area.  At this time, our forecast is calling for a period of sunny days next week but temps will be a bit below normal.   I don’t put too…

We had a total of 0.37 in overnight rainfall, and more is expected over the next few days.  This morning is gloomy and damp, but at least it isn’t as chilly as the past few days.  I’m so happy for the Houston Astros and their World Series win last night.  The Tiger’s ex-pitcher, Justin Verlander, helped win  it for them, and after all that Houston has been through, they now have something to celebrate.  I’m so happy for them as…

The past two days have been extremely wet with a total of 1.84″of rain  since Monday.  After a very dry September, Mother Nature decided to remedy the rain deficit all at once.  The Upper Peninsula had hurricane force winds yesterday with waves well over 20 feet.  This weather is typical of November in northern Michigan, but November isn’t even here yet.  My  brother and sister in law are heading back to Florida today from the cabins in Cheboygan, and they…
