Drought Status Quickly Approaching Mid Michigan

This area hasn’t had a good rain in over a week now, and with the excessive heat, we are badly in need of rain.  But with this wonderful weather, it’s really hard to complain.  Yesterday was a perfect weather day with comfortable temps, clear skies, and just enough breeze to keep the house comfortable with the windows open.  It was perfect.  Today will be much the same only temperatures will be a little warmer but still comfortable.  We got out and did some yard work, mowed the lawn and did some weeding.  At least with the lack of rain, the lawn is fast approaching dormancy and shouldn’t need mowing for awhile.

Our 10 AM temperature is 73°F (23°C), the humidity is 42%, and winds are from the southeast at 5 mph.  Skies are clear and visibility is 10 miles.    The dew point is 45°F (7°C).  Sunrise was at 6:05 AM and sunset will be at 9:17 PM.  Yesterday’s high was 80°F (27°C) and the overnight low was 49°F (10°C).  Averages for this date are 81°F / 58°F.  The record high for July 6 is 100°F (38°C) set in 1911, and the record low is 44°F (7°C) set in 1972.
