A Sunny Sunday After A Very Stormy Saturday In Mid Michigan

Yesterday was pretty nerve-racking as storm alert after storm alert came through on my phone.  It began as a severe thunderstorm watch, to a warning, then tornado warnings.  This went on for about 4 hours in the late afternoon.  Heavy rain accompanied this mess and 1.94″ of rain fell between yesterday morning and late last night.  Needless to say, most areas in southern Michigan are now under floor warnings.  We keep hearing more reports of tornado damage as the day goes on but none in my area.  Confirmed tornadoes that I know of so far were is Port Austin, Clare, and Riga, which is down by the Ohio border.  I’m sure many more will be confirmed over the next few days.  There were training thunderstorms with rotation seen in many of them.  It’s been a long time since I remember having constant storms like this.  I hope that this is the end of them.

Our 2:45 PM temperature is 82°F (28°C), the humidity is 71% and winds are from the SW at 8-15 mph, gusting to 22 mph.  The pressure is 29.94 in (1013.9 mb) and rising.  Visibility is 10 miles.  The heat index is 86°F (30°C).  The dew point is 70°F (21°C).  Yesterday’s high was 80°F (27°C) and the overnight low was 71°F (22°C).  Averages for this date are 79°F / 57°F.  Sunrise was at 5:59 AM and sunset will be at 9:19 PM.
