More Snow And Blustery Conditions . . . .

More Snow And Blustery Conditions . . . .

Today was very cold and windy, but not as bad as yesterday.  Our top wind gust yesterday was 56 mph.  This cold air will be with us until at least Monday, but the little warmup that we get won’t last long.  This has been a real winter for us, and I’m ready for it to end.  I don’t mind the snow as much as these cold temperatures.  Yesterday brought scattered, lake effect snow, and we had the same today, just…

Cold, Snowy And A Wind Advisory . . . .

Cold, Snowy And A Wind Advisory . . . .

After a lovely 53 degrees yesterday,  the cold front moved in late yesterday, dropping the temperatures 15 degrees in about 45 minutes.  We had rain all day and some showers were quite heavy.  There was 1.49″ in my rain gauge at 8 AM, and snow began shortly after.  We now have about an inch on the ground with a lot of blowing, and snow squalls continue.  After a high wind warning early today, it has now decreased to a wind…

A Dark, Dreary Day Ahead Of Another Strong Cold Front . . . . .

A Dark, Dreary Day Ahead Of Another Strong Cold Front . . . . .

Today will be on the mild side, ahead of a strong cold air mass which will affect our weather for the next week.  Tomorrow will be the worst with very strong sustained winds and gusts as high as 60 mph.  Today will be rainy with the possibilities of some thunder.  In fact, we heard a little thunder yesterday with the rain, but it was off in the distance.  Some storm chasers reported hail between Owosso and Chesaning.  We received almost…

Early Morning Ice Storm . . . .

Early Morning Ice Storm . . . .

This morning is dark and dreary with freezing rain.  There’s a thin layer of ice on the trees, bushes and my deck.  Temperatures will be on the rise so it isn’t expected to be long lasting, and hopefully the ice will melt very soon. Our 11:30 AM temperature is 32°F, the humidity is 95%, and skies are overcast with rain, although I think most has stopped  for now.  Winds are from the S at 1-4 mph and the pressure is…

Merry Christmas From Mid Michigan

Merry Christmas From Mid Michigan

Our Christmas Day has cloudy skies and temperatures about where they should be for this date.  We have no precip and winds are light.  Freezing rain is in the forecast for tomorrow morning, so I’m glad I don’t have to go anywhere.  I hope no one gets what northern Michigan got last March.  Freezing rain is far worse than a blizzard. Our 3:30 PM temperature is 35°F. the humidity is 73%, and skies are cloudy. Winds are from the NE…

Not A Bad Christmas Eve Day . . . . .

Not A Bad Christmas Eve Day . . . . .

Our weather today will be uneventful with mainly clouds, but we could see a few peeks of the sun.  Temperatures will be above average and there is no precipitation in the forecast.  Friday, however, will bring possible freezing rain, and much colder temps for next week. Our 11 AM temperature is 32°F, the humidity is 80%, and winds are from the ESE at 2-5 mph.  The pressure is 30.14 in and falling.  Visibility is 10 miles.  Yesterday’s high was 50°F…

Finally, A Bright Day . . . . .

Finally, A Bright Day . . . . .

Although quite cold, today had clear skies and it was great to see the sun again.  With Christmas just a few days away, snow is out of the question for this year.  We had constant snow cover since November 30 until two days ago.  Now I’m hearing that we can expect some mild weather to start the new year. Our 4:30 PM temperature is 26°F, the humidity is 60%, and skies are mostly clear.  Winds are from the SW at…

A Little Warmup Today . . . .

A Little Warmup Today . . . .

We had a light covering of snow yesterday morning, but it has all melted since then.  Now most of the snow is gone except where the snow piles were.  Our white Christmas is not going to happen this year.  After the past two weeks, I don’t really care.  We’ve already gotten enough snow for the year as far as I’m concerned, but I know that’s not going to happen.  At least, if these polar vortexes would stay up in Canada,…

Warmer Temps With Rain . . . . . .

Warmer Temps With Rain . . . . . .

We have a reprieve from the frigid temperatures of the past week, and we have lost about half of our snow pack.  There is still about three inches on the ground and a few patches of ice in the driveway.  Today will be very warm, but then the cold temps will return again tomorrow.  At this time, it is predicted that more warm weather will close out the year and into early January. Our 1:30 PM temperature is 44°F, the…

A Brief Warmup Begins . . . . .

A Brief Warmup Begins . . . . .

We can look forward for some loss of snow and warmer temperatures over the next few days.  I’m hoping that this frigid air will be gone for awhile.  Ryan Hall, YouTube weather analyst, is predicting above normal temps for the end of the month and into early January. In fact, having a white Christmas is questionable at this time.  I think I’ve had enough “white” to last the rest of winter. Our 12:30 PM temperature is 29°F. the humidity is…
