Sunny And A Little Warmer In Mid Michigan

Sunny And A Little Warmer In Mid Michigan

Our temperatures are a bit warmer today, and with the sun, it seems even warmer.  We are looking forward to what maybe a major storm on Wednesday and Thursday, but no real estimates yet on how extensive it will be.  I’ve heard anywhere from 25+ inches of snow to as little as 4-5.  Of course, everyone likes to hype it up, especially some of the weather duds on YouTube.  I’m not taking it seriously until what they’re telling us on…

Snow And A Little Warmer – Mid Michigan

Snow And A Little Warmer – Mid Michigan

Temperatures are a little warmer today but winds are still very chilly.  It just started snowing lightly a few minutes ago but radar isn’t showing anything significant heading our way.  It is almost the end of January and we have had no January thaw this year.  I guess Mother Nature figured that our mild November and December was good enough.  There are a couple of days ahead where highs are expected to reach the upper 30s to near 40°F.  Unfortunately…

Sunny But Very Cold In Mid Michigan

Sunny But Very Cold In Mid Michigan

Highs today won’t even make it out of the teens, but just having clear skies and sunshine eases the pain a little.  After receiving another 2-3 inches of snow cover on Monday, my son got the deck all shoveled off but it isn’t quite warm enough, even in the sun, for the residual to melt.  Tomorrow is expected to be a bit warmer, so it may happen then. Our 2 PM temperature is 18°F (8°C), the humidity is 60% under…

A Snowy Monday In Mid Michigan

A Snowy Monday In Mid Michigan

It has been snowing steadily since I got up this morning and I’m estimating that we have about two inches so far.  Our winter weather advisory goes until 7 PM and I think we will get another inch or so before it is finished.  State Police are reporting road closures on the expressways due to accidents and I’m glad that I don’t have to be out there driving in it.  If folks would just slow down. Our 4 PM temperature…

Cloudy and Cold – Mid Michigan

Cloudy and Cold – Mid Michigan

We started getting intermittent snow showers around  9 AM and they have continued through the day.  What accumulation we had was blown away by the wind.  It was only about half an inch.  We are expecting a more significant snow event on Tuesday and some are saying that we could get 2-4 inches.  Snow lovers are hoping for it.  Northern Michigan and the UP are getting it all and that’s fine with me. Our 2:30 PM temp is 24°F (-4°C),…

At Least It’s Sunny Today – Mid Michigan

At Least It’s Sunny Today – Mid Michigan

This has been a very unusual January for our part of the country.  The picture is showing what has been going on as far as winter storms go, and they have been totally missing Michigan.  Today is yet another sunny day.  That, too, is unusual for Michigan in January.  For those who love winter sports, it’s been a disappointment, but for those of us old folks, we aren’t complaining.  There is snow in our forecast for early next week and…

Another Cloudy, Very Cold Day In Mid Michigan

Another Cloudy, Very Cold Day In Mid Michigan

After seeing temps above freezing the past two days, we are back in the deep freeze today.  The temperature hasn’t risen above 19°F since this morning, and we’re expecting the low tonight to be in the single digits.  I just wish we would get a few days in the 40s so that the rest of this icy snow would melt.  This has been a strange January for us.  Usually we have precipitation at least every other day, and there has…

Falling Temps, Snow Flurries For Mid Michigan

Falling Temps, Snow Flurries For Mid Michigan

It was 37F this morning at 8:30.   Since then, our temperature has dropped 13F.  The high today happened over night and we are now in the grips of another clipper system.  We don’t expect highs to reach over the freezing mark at all next week unless there are changes.  We have cloudy skies and snow flurries at this time and it is quite breezy.  Our snow cover is now reduced to about 70% and where it remains, there is only…

Just A Typical January Day In Mid Michigan

Just A Typical January Day In Mid Michigan

There really isn’t anything special happening with out weather.  It’s cold, temps not getting above freezing, and we still have about 2 inches of snow cover.  There is no significant precipitation in our forecast, so what else can I say?  I’m watching what’s happening down south and so happy that I live here in Michigan.  I’m so sorry for the snowbirds who lost their nests down in the Fort Myers, FL area.  Also, those in the Carolinas who are dealing…

Sunny And Cold In Mid Michigan

Sunny And Cold In Mid Michigan

Today has been bright and sunny, and the wind has been light.  Looking out the window, it looks like a wonderful, winter day.  but walking out the door changes your mind.  It looks like it should be thawing, but nothing is melting.  We continue to have complete snow cover and there is no forecast showing that our temps will warm up any time soon.  There is a major winter storm affecting the southern parts of the country, and we were…
