A Comfortable Summer Day – Mid Michigan

A Comfortable Summer Day – Mid Michigan

Today has been dry and temperatures are comfortable with a light breeze.  There were a few showers that sprung up yesterday but none of them affected us.  Skies look like a few more could spring up today but no sign of any rain so far.  We have had a variety of clouds mixed with a little sun, and it is a nice day here in Mid Michigan. Our 3:45 PM temperature is 75°F, the humidity is 50%, and skies are…

A Welcome Cool-Down For Mid Michigan

A Welcome Cool-Down For Mid Michigan

Today we are expecting highs to only reach the upper 70s and that’s fine with me.  Yesterday wasn’t too bad but quite humid.  Today, the humidity is much lower and it feels more comfortable.  It’s just a beautiful summer day.  We aren’t expecting any rain anytime soon, and we’re happy with what we have.  How quickly our drought conditions have waned. Our 2:30 PM temperature is 76°F (24°C), the humidity is 42% and skies are clear.  Winds are from the…

Nice Weather Following The Storms – Mid Michigan

Nice Weather Following The Storms – Mid Michigan

Yesterday was hot and humid, and storms developed late in the day.  We didn’t have anything severe, but there was a lot of thunder.  Most of it hit overnight and I slept through it, but my husband said that it woke him up.  There was 0.51 inches in my gauge this morning and light rain continued for awhile.  Now the clouds are breaking up, there’s a nice breeze from the north, and I think we can give the AC a…

Very Hot, Storms Expected Tonight – Mid Michigan

Very Hot, Storms Expected Tonight – Mid Michigan

Today is one of the hottest that we’ve had this summer.  Also the humidity is a factor which makes it worse.  I feel for those who still don’t have electricity due to the storms on Wednesday.  More storms are expected tonight and I’m hoping that there are no more that are damaging. Our 2:30 PM temperature is 89°F, the humidity is 66% and the dew point is 67°F.  The pressure is 29.92 in and steady and visibility is 12 miles.   …

Thunderstorms For Our Wednesday – Mid Michigan

Thunderstorms For Our Wednesday – Mid Michigan

Yesterday was quite active on the weather scene.  Thunderstorms moved in during the early afternoon and continued for about 5 hours.  There were periods of severe watches and warnings, but we had none of that here in my area.  The Detroit area, however, is a mess.  My son lives in Northville and works in Redford.  Neither has power this morning.  News coverage showed massive uprooted trees in various areas.  As for us, we just had heavy rain.  Most came with…

Wildfire Smoke And Severe Weather For Today – Mid Michigan

Wildfire Smoke And Severe Weather For Today – Mid Michigan

Today will be one of those days when we wonder what will happen.  Our area is in the enhanced severe weather zone, but until the storms come, our air is still unhealthy from the wildfire smoke.  The local forecasters are pretty certain that today will be rough, weather-wise, and that doesn’t sound good.  To make matters worse, highs will reach near  90°F (32°C).  Our AC is now working and I’m thankful for that.  Storms are supposed to roll in by…

Hot With Air Quality Alert – Mid Michigan

Hot With Air Quality Alert – Mid Michigan

Once again our clear, blue sky looks more grey than blue.  The wildfire smoke from Canada is moving over us again, causing breathing problems for those with asthma and allergies.  Thankfully, no one in my family has either.  Right now, it doesn’t seem too bad but it always seems to get worse later in the day.  They issued our advisory yesterday, but I haven’t heard any today.  Maybe it won’t be as bad as they thought.  There were some thunderstorms…

Hot And Dry For Our Monday – Mid Michigan

Hot And Dry For Our Monday – Mid Michigan

Today is the beginning of a hot week.  Temperatures will reach into the 90s by the week’s end.  Today’s high should reach well into the  80s and we are still without AC.  Hopefully, they’ll be able to fix it tomorrow.  Our AC unit is very old and we may need to have a new one installed.  Whichever it is, I just hope it doesn’t take too long.  Multiple thunderstorms developed yesterday afternoon but they all missed us.  The same is…

Very Warm On This August Saturdy

Very Warm On This August Saturdy

Although we weren’t really expecting any rain today. I’m seeing some starting to form to our north and south on radar.  Scattered thunderstorms are in our forecast, so we may see a little rain today.  Our AC is not working so we are keeping the house closed up to keep the hot air out.  It’s doing a pretty good job.  Thankfully, we have good insulation.  Right now our indoor temp is 76°F, not bad considering that it’s 8°1F outdoors.  I’m…

A Lovely Friday After The Storms

A Lovely Friday After The Storms

Although I was up in Traverse City yesterday, I heard about the storms which rolled through southern Michigan.  One car dealership in Davison had every car on his lot damaged by baseball-sized hail.  Other areas had wind damage although I haven’t heard the extent of it.  My son was home and said that there were winds so strong that it blew my rain gauge sideways.  Luckily, he spotted it right away and went out and straightened it.  Gust’s up to…
