A Very Cold Halloween In Mid Michigan

A Very Cold Halloween In Mid Michigan

It is interesting, as I look out the window this morning, that leaves are falling off the trees like snow.  There is little to no wind, but they are still falling.  This morning is clear and bright but not comfortable to be outdoors.  The temperature was only 24F when I got up and has risen a few degrees since then.  I put up some of my Halloween decor yesterday since there were no strong winds for a change.  The trick-or-treaters…

Definitely Feels Like Novermber In Mid Michigan

Definitely Feels Like Novermber In Mid Michigan

It feels really cold out there today.  Highs aren’t even expected to make it into the 40s and thankfully, there isn’t much wind.  Skies have been cloudy all day so far and I’m not expecting to see much sun, if any.  We are looking forward to the warmup that the local weather gurus are promising by mid week.  I  just wish that it would stay all of November but I know that we won’t be that lucky.  At least we…

A Very Pleasant Day In Mid Michigan

A Very Pleasant Day In Mid Michigan

Today was very nice with plenty of sun although temperatures were quire cool.  Clouds are starting to move in now and there isn’t expected to be nearly as much sun tomorrow as there was today.  We could see a few drops of rain Thursday but nothing major is expected.  As two storms move to our south, they should remain there which is good for us.  Those on the gulf coast are not as lucky as Hurricane Zeta approaches.  The next…

Feels Like November in Mid Michigan

Feels Like November in Mid Michigan

Today began with a trace of rain resulting in a cloudy, chilly day.  It is quite breezy which adds to the chill and there is no sign of the sun.  It is not a nice day to to be outdoors for sure, and the remainder of the week is not promising to be much better.  Even when they predict partly sunny, we see more clouds than sun.  At least we haven’t seen snow yet. Our 2PM temperature is 43F (6C),…

A Cloudy, Very Chilly Day In Mid Michigan

A Cloudy, Very Chilly Day In Mid Michigan

Temperatures fell quickly yesterday afternoon after the storms passed and lows overnight dipped below freezing.  Ice covered my rain gauge this morning and there was 0.29″ from the previous storms.  We were under a severe TS warning but we only got heavy rain and strong winds.  There was no damage in my area that I know of.  Today began with clear skies but have now become mostly cloudy.  Highs will not be very warm today or the rest of this…

Showers, Thunderstorms On The Way Ahead Of A StrongCold Front – Mid Michigan

Showers, Thunderstorms On The Way Ahead Of A StrongCold Front – Mid Michigan

Our morning began calm and sunny.  Since then, the winds have picked up and clouds rolled in.  It felt almost like a summer morning and temps are still holding in the low 70s.  Radar is showing a line of showers and thunderstorms ahead of a cold front which will dramatically drop our temperatures below the average once again.  There have been a few sprinkles so far but most of the rain remains to our west.  I figure that it will…

A Wet Morning Results In Foggy Afternoon – Mid Michigan

A Wet Morning Results In Foggy Afternoon – Mid Michigan

The rain began late last night and continued all night.  There was 0.54″ in my gauge this morning and it continued until after noon.  Now the rain has stopped and fog has developed.  Temperatures will be very warm today and tomorrow before a strong cold front takes over.  At least there is no snow in our forecast as yet. Our 4 PM temperature is 52F (11C),  the humidity is 9%, and skies are overcast with fog.  The pressure is 29.94…

A Very Wet, Dark Wednesday Morning In Mid Michigan

A Very Wet, Dark Wednesday Morning In Mid Michigan

We had quite a loud thunderstorm overnight that woke me up.  That usually doesn’t happen.  There was 0.41″ in my gauge this morning and it is very windy.  The next few days will be quite warm, then a strong cold front will drop the temperatures below average once again.  The upper peninsula has snow cover already and I’m sure that  makes them happy.  I’m not ready for snow yet although I’m hearing that it is a possibility soon. Our 9:45…

Mix Of Sun, Clouds And Rain – Mid Michigan

Mix Of Sun, Clouds And Rain – Mid Michigan

The past three days have seen a mix of every kind of weather.  There would be periods of sun, then clouds and a sprinkle of rain every so often.  Today is starting off with clear skies and very chilly temperatures,  but I’m already seeing clouds moving in.  The good thing is that the winds shouldn’t be too strong today, so it won’t feel so cold.  The wind is always an issue this time of year.  There will be a full…

A Mix Of Sun And Clouds For Our Saturday – Mid Michigan

A Mix Of Sun And Clouds For Our Saturday – Mid Michigan

With the winds of the past several days, many of the trees have already lost their leaves.  The maples and oaks seem to hang on the longest.  There is still a lot of color left and today won’t be nearly as blustery as Thursday and Friday.  Highs will only make it into he mid 50s however, which is about 10 degrees below where it should be for this date.  We are expecting a little warmup next week but it will…
