Very Mild Temperature For Our Sunday – Mid Michigan

Very Mild Temperature For Our Sunday – Mid Michigan

We had a lot of thawing yesterday and highs got near 50 degrees.  We should see highs in the 50s once again today and that should take care of at least half of what snow we have left.  Our snow cover is now down to about 70% and it measure anywhere from 1-4 inches where it still remains.  There is even rain in the forecast and I’m hoping that it doesn’t leave a layer of ice on everything.  This is…

Spring Is In The Air – Mid Michigan

Spring Is In The Air – Mid Michigan

We can actually see some bare ground now. We lose a little more snow everyday and our snow pack is now down to about 6 in. With the sun and highs in the low 40s, it’s really starting to look and feel like spring.  What’s even nicer is that the upcoming week looks just as good. Our 2 PM temp is 40F (4C), the humidity is 49%, and skies re clear.  Winds are from the SSE at 3-10 mph and…

Very Warm, A Lot Of Snow Melt – Mid Michigan

Very Warm, A Lot Of Snow Melt – Mid Michigan

Yesterday was absolutely wonderful. We had clear skies all day and very warm temperatures. Our high made it up to 46 degrees and we lost about 2 in of snow pack. It is now at about 9.5 inches. Today should be about the same only with more clouds. I’m hearing that highs could reach in the low 50s next week. Our 11:30 AM temp is 47F (8C), the humidity is 66%, and skies are mostly cloudy.  Winds are from the…

Much Warmer Temperatures In Mid Michigan

Much Warmer Temperatures In Mid Michigan

Our snow pack is now down to about 11 inches and we are losing a little more each day.  Our forecast for the next few days is calling for warmer temps than originally given.  That’s fine with me.  What’s even better is that there isn’t much in the way of precipitation predicted over the next week or so.  So maybe we are turning the corner on our winter weather.  We shouldn’t complain since February brought us the only real winter…

Cloudy But Warmer In Mid Michigan – We’ll Take It!

Cloudy But Warmer In Mid Michigan – We’ll Take It!

Our morning began with about an inch of new snow on the deck, but it was already melting so no shoveling was necessary.  It is now almost gone.  Temps were at or above freezing all night, so what snow did fall was very wet.  There were large flakes of snow falling when I went to bed last night and I’m seeing reports on CoCoRahs that it turned to rain overnight.  I’m not sure if it did here but I’m thinking…

A Lovely Sunday In Mid Michigan

A Lovely Sunday In Mid Michigan

Our morning was sunny and bright, but now some clouds have moved in.  We have another weather system moving in tonight which could bring us another inch or so of new snow.  This happens almost every day and we need for some of it to melt before we get anymore.  We’ve been feeding the birds as well as the deer since I think they have a hard time finding food with all this snow.  I know the birds are at…

A Sunny Saturday In Mid Michigan

A Sunny Saturday In Mid Michigan

The sun is out today and that’s a good thing. Unfortunately, it isn’t warm enough to melt any of this snow. In fact, we received another inch overnight. We continue to have about 15 in of snow cover and it all accumulated from these snow showers that we’ve been getting every day. I’m ready for some days in the 40s or 50s so that it can start melting. At least the snow on the deck is gone. Thank you, Mr….

Another Two Inches Of Snow For Us – Mid Michigan

Another Two Inches Of Snow For Us – Mid Michigan

Our skies have cleared somewhat and we have a mix of sun and clouds right now.  Temperatures are definitely warmer than what we have had and the two inches of new snow from last night has now increased our snow cover to 15 inches.    We shoveled the deck early for the dog and it has now melted down to wood.  We keep getting an inch or two almost everyday and none of it melts.  My heart goes out to the…

It Just Won’t Quit Snowing – Mid Michigan

It Just Won’t Quit Snowing – Mid Michigan

We got a break yesterday but it’s now snowing again.  The forecast is calling for only up to an inch and I hope it’s right.  We really don’t need anymore.  Our snow cover is still at 14 inches.  We did manage to get shoveled out and the plow went down our road today.  So we’re good for a while.  Temperatures are expected to get a little warmer each day and we should finally be above freezing by early next week….

Finally, A Reprieve in These Frigid Temperatures – Mid Michigan

Finally, A Reprieve in These Frigid Temperatures – Mid Michigan

It was -11F when I got up this morning.  Since then, the temp has rebounded to 17F  The sun is shining brightly although it isn’t expected to last.  More clouds will move in by late this afternoon and we can expect a little more snow.   We aren’t supposed to get much, maybe an inch but that’s enough to keep the road slippery.  Highs are expected to rise to the low to mid 20s which will feel like a heat wave…
