Enough Warmth To Melt The Snow . . . .

Enough Warmth To Melt The Snow . . . .

Today will be our warmest day for awhile, and we have already lost half of our snow cover.  I’m sure that most, if not all, will be gone by sundown.  We are expected to have above average temps for most of December, but the next few will still be unseasonable cold.  The wind will also be an issue today which will make it feel colder. Our 12:30 PM temperature is 46°F (8°C), the humidity is 65%, and winds are from…

Another Cold Day . . . . .

Another Cold Day . . . . .

We did lose a little snow yesterday but there is still about half an inch in most places.  We won’t see much, if any sun, today and winds will continue to make it uncomfortable to be out and about.  Tomorrow is expected to be much better and I’m glad since we have to go to Detroit. Our 1:45 PM temperature is 31°F (-1°C), the humidity is 74%, and skies are overcast.  Winds are from the SW at 6-11 mph, giving…

Clear And Sunny, But Very Cold . . . .

Clear And Sunny, But Very Cold . . . .

It seems good to see clear skies and sun, but the temperature is way below average, and the wind makes it even colder.  I was watching one of the YouTube Weather gurus, and he said that we should expect a big warmup for most of December.  I hope he’s right but only time will tell.  It doesn’t sound like we should expect a white Christmas, but he also said that there are a few major winter storms in the making,…

Snow Cover Will Be With Us For A While . . . .

Snow Cover Will Be With Us For A While . . . .

The snow began around noon yesterday and continued most of the day.  It stopped around sunset and left about 3/4 of an inch on the ground.  Much was melting on contact early on.  Temps today aren’t expected to even reach freezing, so it will probably remain for a few days.  We could still see a little more today as lake effect snow squalls will continue.  They are usually brief and don’t come this far inland, so I’m not expecting much…

The Snow Finally Arrived . . . . .

The Snow Finally Arrived . . . . .

The snow began right around noon, and has continued moderately since then.  Most has melted on contact, but some is beginning to stay.  I’d say that we have about half an inch so far.  It is wet and sticking to all the branches of bushes and trees.  It’s actually very pretty.  Our expected snow total is about one inch, but radar is showing quite a bit more still coming, so I’m thinking that we may get a little bit more…

Unseasonably Cold . . . .

Unseasonably Cold . . . .

We have another very cold morning with temps starting out in the mid teens.  There is also a very heavy frost, and that could become snow tomorrow.  It is only expected to be about an inch, but that’s enough to make the roads slippery.  Highs today will only reach the mid 30s, and next week isn’t suppose to warm up until the weekend. Our 10 AM temperature is 28°F (-2°C), the humidity is 76% and winds are from the SW…

Feels Like January . . . . .

Feels Like January . . . . .

This is our coldest day yet this season.  Highs will only make it into the low 30s and thankfully, we don’t have strong winds today.  Next week will bring winter weather with snow expected a few days.  I’m hearing that most will be lake effect, so no telling how much we could get.  I guess it is that time of year, and we usually have had more snow by now than what we have had this year.  No complaining here….

A Beautiful Thanksgiving Day . . . . .

A Beautiful Thanksgiving Day . . . . .

We have a sunny, fairly mild day to cook our turkey.  My husband is cooking it outdoors on the grill, so we were hoping that the weather would be decent.  The weather is expected to take a drastic turn over the next week, and we could see our next substantial snow event.  This month has been really nice for November so I consider us to be very lucky. Our 11 AM temperature is 41°F (5°C), the humidity is 80%, and…

Rain Is Over, Now Just Clouds . . . .

Rain Is Over, Now Just Clouds . . . .

We received about three quarters of an inch of rain yesterday, and it finally ended around sunset.  Our forecast is calling for clear weather for our Thanksgiving, but then snow is not far behind.  We’ve been lucky so far with just the little snow that we got on Halloween.  It will be interesting to see how our winter goes.  It’s supposed to be mild and not much snow. Our 11:30 AM temperature is 39°F (4°C), the humidity is 85%, and…

A Cold And Rainy Morning . . . . . .

A Cold And Rainy Morning . . . . . .

There was  0.50″ of rain in my gauge at 9:30 this morning, and moderate rain has continued since then.  This is expected to last most of the day, and a large mass of precipitation is showing on radar.  I’m glad that my husband got the law mowed over the weekend.  Usually by now the grass is dormant, but not this year.  Originally this was supposed to be snow but even the northern areas of the state are getting rain.  That…
