A Sunny Morning In Mid Michigan

A Sunny Morning In Mid Michigan

Today is Halloween and we finally have some decent weather for it.  The past 4-5 Halloweens have been cold and rainy.  We are finally seeing color on our trees after several very chilly nights.  Yesterday was misty and gloomy all day.  There was 0.03″ in my rain gauge and northern lights were supposed to be visible overnight.  I don’t know if they ever happened since it was still cloudy when I went to bed.  This is a very pleasant morning…

Cloudy With Rain Ending – Mid Michigan

Cloudy With Rain Ending – Mid Michigan

After two days of rain, it has finally stopped.  Today is the big game between Michigan State and Univ. of Michigan and the weather should be  dry in time for it.  That will be the highlight for today if you live in Michigan and are a football fan.  As for me, I’m babying my knee following my surgery and am not getting around very well.  I’m not supposed to be sitting by the computer too long since my leg needs…

Rain, Rain, And More Rain For Mid Michigan

Rain, Rain, And More Rain For Mid Michigan

What can I say, it’s really a crummy day out there.  The rain began late yesterday afternoon and continued all night.  It’s still raining quite hard with no break.  What’s worse it that it is expected to continue all day today.  There was 0.98″ in my gauge at 8:45 this morning, and possibly up to another inch is expected before it comes to an end tonight.  I’ll be going into the hospital tomorrow for a total knee replacement, so will…

Cloudy, With Morning Frost – Mid Michigan

Cloudy, With Morning Frost – Mid Michigan

Our Sunday began with frost and fog.  Visibility was less than half a mile until mid morning.  Intermittent light showers yesterday gave us another 0.05″ of rain and temperatures haven’t made it out of the 40s yet today.  The forecast is calling for highs in the low 50s.  Radar is showing a large area of rain just to our south and that is expected to reach us later today.  It really feels like November. Our 2 PM temperature is 48°F…

Another Chilly, Cloudy Day In Mid Michigan

Another Chilly, Cloudy Day In Mid Michigan

We received a little rain overnight leaving 0.05″ in my gauge.  It was wet and damp first thing this morning, but the rain had stopped early.  Since then, it has remained dry but temperatures are not rising very fast.  Highs today will only reach near 50°F and that’s about 3 degrees warmer than yesterday.  Since the nights are getting colder, I’ve noticed more color on the maple trees, at least on the leaves that are still left.  Many just dried…

Sunny, Breezy And Very Chilly – Mid Michigan

Sunny, Breezy And Very Chilly – Mid Michigan

It was only 33°F when I got up this morning and I was surprised to see no frost on the cars.  It has been clear so far but I’m seeing clouds moving in from the west.  Highs today are expected to only make it into the low 50s, so a jacket will be needed for any outdoor activities.  Yesterday was cloudy most of the day and we had intermittent showers which left 0.05″ in my gauge.  The high was only…

Much Colder With Rain – Mid Michigan

Much Colder With Rain – Mid Michigan

We had a few intermittent showers yesterday with a thunderstorm early this morning.  There was one loud clap of thunder that woke me up and plenty of lightning.  We didn’t get much rain, however, only 0.13″.  Today has been dry with some sun, but rain has moved in over the past hour or so.  Also, the wind is quite brisk making it feel colder than it is.  Most of our maple trees are still holding onto their leaves and we…

Cloudy But Mild In Mid Michigan

Cloudy But Mild In Mid Michigan

Our morning began with clear skies but clouds have moved in since then, and there is rain on the radar just to our north.  It appears that most of it will miss us but we could get a few sprinkles.  The forecast isn’t calling for any rain until tonight.  Just as I’m typing this, I hear rain on my skylight.  Highs today are expected to reach the low 70s once again, and this could be the last that we see…

A Clear, Cold Morning In Mid Michigan

A Clear, Cold Morning In Mid Michigan

This is the coldest morning that we’ve had yet this season.  Lows here fell into the upper 30s overnight.  Our morning is starting out with clear skies and a bit breezy.  Yesterday was nice with plenty of sun and light winds.  It was a great day for getting out and putting summer furniture away for the year, lawn mowing, or anything else that needed to be done.  We have certainly been lucky with our autumn weather this year.  It’s been…

Sunny And Windy For Our Sunday – Mid Michigan

Sunny And Windy For Our Sunday – Mid Michigan

It looks pleasant outdoors but the strong winds almost take your breath away.  So much for doing anything outdoors today.  At least the rain has stopped and there is none in the forecast until Wednesday.  Hopefully, we won’t have these winds all week. Our 1 PM temperature is 61°F (16°C), the humidity is 46%, and winds are from the WNW at 9-16 mph, gusting to 23 mph.  The dew point is 39°F (4°C) and the pressure is 29.94 in (1013.9…
