Yesterday really felt like spring in spite of the strong winds. We were under a wind advisory until 2 PM, and even after that winds continued to be uncomfortably strong. Wind gusts were as high as 50 mph in some places and many lost power. Today is expected to be beautiful with clear skies and light winds. Unfortunately, I have to work this afternoon. We received 0.02 inches of rain overnight and it looks like today won’t be very pleasant being out and about. Although temperatures will be mild, wind chills will make it seem much colder. Now that the rain has ceased, we are dealing with much cooler temperatures but they are still about 10° higher than average for this date. Unfortunately, there is more rain ahead. A flood warning is still in effect for all the rivers in our area until Saturday. To say that we are sick of rain is an understatement. We barely got a break from it yesterday except for a few 5 minute periods here and there. Our total since Monday night is 2.96 inches, 1.76 of that was yesterday alone. Everything near any waterways are flooded once again. Once again, we received much more precip than what was predicted. There was 1.20 inches in my gauge as of 8 AM this morning and moderate rain continues at this time. We rose this morning to a world of white but it didn’t last long. There was half an inch of new snow on the deck, but by the time we returned home from church, it was gone. We have about 4.5 inches of snow cover as of this morning. Where we cleared the snow, it is down to bare ground. We lost a lot of snow with the warm temperatures that we have had the past two days. There is still about 5.5 inches of snow cover but it is continuing to melt with temps remaining above freezing. The next few days will be cold but then another warmup following that. Most of the ice is gone from the roads and my driveway, and I hope that it is gone for the remainder of the season.
