Dense Fog Advisory . . . . .

Dense Fog Advisory . . . . .

More fog to start our day.  We lost much of the snow from yesterday and there is only about half an inch left.   The fog advisory is for this morning with the possibility of freezing rain.  Temperatures are already rising so I don’t think that will happen.  Visibility is only three quarters of a mile right now and it doesn’t seem as dense as earlier.  There is no sun in the forecast until Saturday. Our 10 AM temperature is 35°F,…

Three Inches Of New Snow . . . .

Three Inches Of New Snow . . . .

We woke to a world of white this morning.  The snow is wet and sticking to everything.  It’s very pretty to look at but I’m betting that driving this morning wasn’t very fun.  I’m glad that I don’t have to do that anymore. Our 9:30 AM temp is 32°F, the humidity is 97%, and skies are cloudy and the snow has now stopped.   Winds are from the SE but calm at the present time.  Visibility is 5 miles and the…

Cloudy But Dry . . . .

Cloudy But Dry . . . .

We have another dreary, cold day to deal with.  At least it’s the end of January and we can look forward to spring coming in the next few months.  This winter is passing so quickly, just like our summer did.  Unfortunately, life passes by too soon. Our 4 PM temperature is 35°F, the humidity is 89%, and skis are overcast.  Winds are from the SW at 8-13 mph, and the pressure is 29.87 in and falling.  The dew point is…

A Few Sprinkles . . . . .

A Few Sprinkles . . . . .

.   .    . GO LIONS! After warm temps and rain of the past few days, most of our snow is gone.  We received just over an inch of rain since Friday, and snow flurries were in the forecast for today.  All we have gotten is a few raindrops.  We aren’t expecting to see any sun this week but temperatures will remain well above the average.  It is expected that this week will be mostly dry. Our 5:45 PM temperature…

More Fog . . . .

More Fog . . . .

I don’t remember ever having this many days in a row of dense fog.  This morning was just cloudy, then the fog appeared around 1:30 PM.  It is just as dense as it was the past two days.  Heavy rain moved into our area overnight and there was over one inch in my rain gauge this morning.  Much of the snow is gone.  We just have patches left here and there.  I almost forgot what a clear, sunny day looks…

Another Day Of Dense Fog . . . .

Another Day Of Dense Fog . . . .

We had heavy fog most of our Wednesday, and it remains this morning.  The dense fog advisory expires at 11 AM.  I haven’t seen fog like this in a long time and visibility was less than a mile much of yesterday.  I hope it is gone this afternoon.  The good thing is that temps were very mild and we lost quite a bit of snow. Our 9:30 AM temperature is 34°F (1°C), the humidity is 100%, and winds are calm. …

Fog To Start Our Day . . . .

Fog To Start Our Day . . . .

We were lucky yesterday and didn’t get any freezing rain.   All the snow and ice on my deck has turned to slush and it shovels easily.  We still have about 2 inches of snowpack and I expect that to be gone by late tomorrow.  Extended forecasts are telling us that February will be mild, and I hope they are right.  I’m just not cut out for these single digit and teen temperatures.  This morning began with dense fog and it…

A Big Mess Out There Today . . . . . .

A Big Mess Out There Today . . . . . .

What began as snow this morning, changed to rain for this afternoon.  I’m happy that none of it froze, at least not yet.  I’m able to remove some of the ice from my deck and I’m happy about that.  The next few days should see highs in the 40s, so I’m not expecting any of what we’re getting to freeze.  Most of the snow should be gone by the weekend. Our 4:15 PM temperature is 35°F (2°C), the humidity is…

Winter Weather Advisory In Effect . . . .

Winter Weather Advisory In Effect . . . .

We are expecting a winter mix bringing snow this afternoon.  My area seems to be right on the line between rain and snow, and I’m hoping for all snow.  We still have about an inch of ice under our existing snowpack which I was hoping to be rid of.  We don’t need anymore.  We have about 3 inches of snow on the ground with about an inch of ice under that.  There is light snow falling right now but not…

Slightly Warmer . . . . . .

Slightly Warmer . . . . . .

We have a welcome warmup coming this week.  We should see temps into the 40s by next weekend, and hopefully, get rid of this ice.  We have about 3 inches of snowpack, and that’s on top of about 1 inch of ice, so exact measurements are hard to get.  Looking at the extended prediction for February, it appears that February should be on the mild side.  At least we can hope . . . . Our 10:30 AM temperature is…
