A Very Chilly Saturday For Mid Michigan

A Very Chilly Saturday For Mid Michigan

Our Thanksgiving Day was nice  although the weather was chilly and cloudy.  I guess that would be normal for the end of November here in Michigan.  The kids were all home and everyone was stuffed.  This weekend, we’re expecting a mix of rain and possible freezing rain tonight through early tomorrow.  We are sort of on the boundary for the mix, and northern Michigan is expecting much worse.  I just hope that the forecast doesn’t change. Our 11:15 AM temperature…

A Powerless Thanksgiving Day For Many In Michigan

A Powerless Thanksgiving Day For Many In Michigan

After having winds up to  60 mph in many areas yesterday, many in Mid Michigan are without power today.  Thankfully, we aren’t one of them.  There was plenty of damage in the Saginaw-Bay City area but Shiawassee County seemed to be spared from the worst of it.  After highs in the 50s yesterday, we won’t even make it to 40° today but at least the winds have subsided. Our 9:30 AM temperature is 33°F (1°C), the humidity is 76%, and…

Wind Advisories, Winter Storm Warnings For Michigan On This Day Before Thanksgiving

After heavy overnight rain, our skies are clearing and the sun is out.  There was 0.86″ in my rain gauge this morning, and we did hear a few rumbles of thunder last night.  A winter storm warning is in effect for the upper peninsula, and up to 3 feet of snow is expected in the western and central areas.  Travelers are being warned to wait until Thursday to do any necessary driving.  The lower peninsula is expecting mostly rain but…

A Mild Tuesday For Mid Michigan

A Mild Tuesday For Mid Michigan

This morning feels like a day in March, but unfortunately, it isn’t going to last.  We have a rather potent storm system moving our way for Wednesday.  Although we aren’t expecting any snow, winds will be the issue.  I’m hoping that we don’t lose power with the holiday on Thursday.  That’s all we’d need.  The upper peninsula of  Michigan is under a winter storm warning as well as lakeshore flood warnings.  Northern lower is under a winter weather advisory for…

A Lovely Sunny Sunday Morning In Mid Michigan

A Lovely Sunny Sunday Morning In Mid Michigan

This morning is bright with average temperatures.  We can’t really expect much better for the end of November here in Michigan.  There is an impending winter storm that is heading our way for Tuesday, but it’s looking like it will be all rain for our area.  After last week’s storm, we don’t need anymore snow for a while.  Yesterday wasn’t as sunny as we hoped but it still wasn’t a bad day.  At least we didn’t have strong winds which…

Normal Temperatures, Sunny Skies for our Weekend – Mid Michigan

Normal Temperatures, Sunny Skies for our Weekend – Mid Michigan

It’s as if Mother Nature is trying to make up for what she did to us last week.  The forecast for this weekend is lovely and temperatures will be right around normal.  The rains yesterday took care of the remainder of our snow, and it’s now just a bad memory.  My burning bushes were just starting to turn red and the snow destroyed the few leaves that were turning.  Oh well, it could be worse.  Long term forecasts are not…

A Warm But Wet Day In Mid Michigan

A Warm But Wet Day In Mid Michigan

Although temperatures today will be above average, it will be wet with rain expected most of the day.  There is just a hint of snow cover left , mainly where the snow piles were,  and our weather seems to be back to normal for November.  There aren’t any big weather systems expected to hit us anytime soon, so that’s always a good thing.  In fact, local meteorologists are saying that the remainder of November and most of December should be…

Dense Fog, Mild Temperatures For Our Tuesday – Mid Michigan

Dense Fog, Mild Temperatures For Our Tuesday – Mid Michigan

Although we have mild temperatures, visibility is down to less than a mile  We are expecting a period of near normal temps over the next week, and that’s a relief from what we have had.  Yesterday warmed up to near 50° for most areas and there was quite a bit of sun.  It was a very pleasant day.  All of our snow is gone except for where the snow piles are and they continue to melt away.  There are still…

Our snow pack is now down to about an inch with the snow cover at about 50%.  It’s slowly melting away and I’m not missing it.  There are no storms expected anytime soon and temperatures will recover to closer to normal this week.  This morning started out with a little sun but it didn’t last long.  I don’t think we will see much sun today. Our 9:30 AM temp is 35°F (2°C), the humidity is 80% and skies are overcast. …

A Pleasant Start To Our Sunday In Mid Michigan

A Pleasant Start To Our Sunday In Mid Michigan

Our morning is beginning with plenty of sun and fairly mild temperatures.  We should see highs today near 40° and that will be a nice change from what we have had.  We continue to lose small amounts of snow everyday and our snow cover is now down to about an inch.  This week is expected to bring milder temps but still below what we should be having for this date.  I’m starting to see an increase in Christmas decor as…
