Clouds, Sprinkles, and Wind to Start Our Monday – Mid Michigan

Clouds, Sprinkles, and Wind to Start Our Monday – Mid Michigan

Our mornings are so dark and dreary these days.  I can’t wait to get back on standard time again.  When it’s this dark, I don’t even feel like getting out of bed.  I know that it will be dark earlier in the evening, but I prefer to have the daylight in the morning myself.  That will happen this Sunday.  This morning is beginning with a few sprinkles, giving us a trace of rain so far.  We have an 80% chance…

Rain For Our Sunday Morning – Mid Michigan

Rain For Our Sunday Morning – Mid Michigan

Our morning is starting out with clouds and very damp conditions.  We received very light rain late Saturday afternoon, but most came overnight.  There was only 0.03″ in my gauge but everything is wet this morning.  The cool temps will prevail through this week with no long term sign of any warmups.  It looks like Halloween will be chilly for the kids.  At least we haven’t seen any snow or sleet as yet, but I’m sure that it won’t be…

It’s a Dreary, Cold Morning in Mid Michigan

It’s a Dreary, Cold Morning in Mid Michigan

Although we haven’t seen anything is the way of snow or sleet yet, it certainly feels cold enough for some frozen precipitation.  Yesterday brought us some light rain early in the day and there was 0.07″ in my gauge this morning.  I had to work so the weather didn’t really affect me much, but today we need to get out and get some yard stuff done.  The lawn needs mowing and I suspect that we won’t be doing that too…

First Frost of the Season – Mid Michigan

First Frost of the Season – Mid Michigan

We were warned by a local meteorologist that we could get a frost last night, and it did indeed happen.  There were no warnings or advisories posted since NOAA figured that the growing season is over.  I do still have a few flowers alive in my garden and I’m not sure if they will survive this morning’s frost.  I guess I’ll know soon.  At any rate, I didn’t do anything to protect them since it is so late in the…

The past two days have been extremely wet with a total of 1.84″of rain  since Monday.  After a very dry September, Mother Nature decided to remedy the rain deficit all at once.  The Upper Peninsula had hurricane force winds yesterday with waves well over 20 feet.  This weather is typical of November in northern Michigan, but November isn’t even here yet.  My  brother and sister in law are heading back to Florida today from the cabins in Cheboygan, and they…

A Wet Day In Store For Most of Michigan

A Wet Day In Store For Most of Michigan

Today is beginning with very mild temperatures and mostly cloudy skies.  There is heavy rain showing on radar but it hasn’t reached us as yet.  Many areas of the state are under flood watches and warnings in anticipation of what is coming, and some areas have already received an inch of rain.  The showers are training from the south and slowly moving to the east.  My area is expecting up to 2 inches of rain by the time it is…

Our Wonderful Weather Is Coming To An End – Mid Michigan

Our Wonderful Weather Is Coming To An End – Mid Michigan

Tonight will bring the leading edge of a cold front which will take our temperatures to a normal range by mid week.  Today will still be wonderful but by Wednesday, it will be down right cold.  But what can I say?  September and this month have been exceptional here in Michigan.  We knew that it couldn’t last forever and we can look forward to a normal winter or so they are telling us.  Plenty of snow is in the forecast. …

Gorgeous Weather Continues in Mid Michigan

Gorgeous Weather Continues in Mid Michigan

Yesterday’s weather was outstanding, and today should be very similar.  It’s going to be hard to part with this autumn’s weather when normalcy finally reaches us.  I’m seeing that the extended forecast is no longer calling for highs only in the 40s, so maybe it won’t be quite as cold as originally thought.  Bow hunting season is here and I suppose that the hunters would appreciated cooler weather.  As for me, I’m just thankful for what we have had. Our…

Summer-Like Weather For Our Weekend – Mid Michigan

Summer-Like Weather For Our Weekend – Mid Michigan

We have three days of temperatures in the 70s to look forward to before more cold air moves in on us.  We could see our first frost next week with highs only in the 40s expected by mid week.  But we’ll enjoy mid 70s through our weekend.  I took my doggies for a walk back in the fields yesterday and they seemed to enjoy it immensely.  Yesterday was gorgeous but a bit on the breezy side.  You just can’t get…

Enjoying Our Above-Normal Temps While They Last – Mid Michigan

Enjoying Our Above-Normal Temps While They Last – Mid Michigan

If one doesn’t mind the wind, we could say that this is fantastic weather.  Apparently, we can expect this for the remainder of the week.  There is cold air moving our way for next week, and the pendulum will swing the other way bringing us below-normal temps for a few days.  Highs will only be in the 40s if the predictions are correct.  That will be a shock to the system for sure.  LaNina will be controlling our weather for…
