A Little Snow And Much Colder Temps – Mid Michigan

A Little Snow And Much Colder Temps – Mid Michigan

We received about half and inch of new snow overnight and highs yesterday never rose above freezing.  Once again we have a white landscape to brighten our world.  Yesterday was dry and we even saw a little sun early in the day.  Today is supposed to be mostly sunny but there hasn’t been any sign of clearing as yet.  I’m hoping that it happens soon to melt the snow off my deck. Our 9 AM temperature is 26.4°F (-3°F), the…

Cloudy And Cold With A Trace Of Snow – Mid Michigan

Cloudy And Cold With A Trace Of Snow – Mid Michigan

Yesterday was very spring-like with highs in the 50s.  As the day went on, however, temperatures continued to drop and we received a trace of snow overnight.  Highs today probably won’t even reach freezing.  Yesterday was very windy with gust up t0 25 mph.  Today should be more calm. Our 9 AM temp is 26°F (-3°F), the humidity is 77%, and winds are from the northwest at 7 mph.  Skies are cloudy and the dew point is 21°F (-6°C).  The…

Very Warm Temperatures For Mid Michigan

Very Warm Temperatures For Mid Michigan

It feels like a spring morning out there today with temperatures hovering around 50°F.  Too bad that we don’t have some sunshine with it.  I know that the dogs appreciate it.  They weren’t in a big hurry to come in for a change.  We know, of course, that this won’t last and highs will only be in the 30s  next week.  But hey! it’s winter after all. Our 8:45 AM temp is 49.5°F (10°C), the humidity is 86% and skies…

A Snowy Christmas Day Made For A White Christmas – Mid Michigan

A Snowy Christmas Day Made For A White Christmas – Mid Michigan

We had a trace of snow on the ground early Tuesday morning, but it increased to almost an inch by late afternoon.  It was so pretty.  This morning is cloudy but with no wind, it doesn’t  feel bad out there at all.  We are expected to see some sun later today so it shouldn’t be too bad of a day. Our 9 AM temp is 33.3F, the humidity is 93% and winds are from the NNE at 1 mph.  Skies…

New Fallen Snow For Our Christmas Eve Day – Mid Michigan

New Fallen Snow For Our Christmas Eve Day – Mid Michigan

Although we only received half an inch, it looks very white out there.  Our high today is expected to only rise to around freezing, so it may last until tomorrow.   Local weather gurus are saying that there has to be at least an inch to be considered a “white Christmas” but regardless, it sure looks white to me.  The latter part of this week is expected to warm up significantly with more rain expected. Our 9:45 AM temp is 29.8°F…

A Cloudy, Chilly Eve of Christmas Eve – Mid Michigan

A Cloudy, Chilly Eve of Christmas Eve – Mid Michigan

No, we will not  have a white Christmas this year and to tell the truth, I don’t really care.  I’m hearing rumors of a big snowstorm heading our way for the end of the week, but nothing certain at this time.  I guess what will be will be.  I hope that the roads are decent for those going out on New year’s Eve although I won’t be one of them.  I’m working days that day and only have three day…

A Little Overnight Snow For Mid Michigan

A Little Overnight Snow For Mid Michigan

Friday was a drizzly, damp, gloomy day, but the temperature dropped enough at night to turn the rain into snow.  We only received about 1/10 of an inch but at least it brightened up the landscape a bit.   Highs today will only make it into the low to mid 30s with snow flurries in the forecast.  Here it is, just 4 days before Christmas and I’m not sure if I’m mentally ready yet.  It seems to come faster every year….

Light Rain To Begin Our Thursday – Mid Michigan

Light Rain To Begin Our Thursday – Mid Michigan

When I got up this morning at around 7:45, we had light sprinkles..  Since that time it has turned into a steady light rain.  The forecast was for rain after 10 AM so it arrived early.  Our temperatures are remaining above average and that seems good after all the very cold weather that we had in Novermber.  Extended forecasts are calling for more of the same until the end of the month.  A white Christmas is doubtful for us but…

Cloudy, Cool, But No Fog – Mid Michigan

Cloudy, Cool, But No Fog – Mid Michigan

The fog has finally dissipated after three days.  Skies began to clear yesterday in the late afternoon and the humidity dropped.  There is no precipitation in our forecast but I doubt that we’ll see much sun either.  Forecasters are now saying that there is a chance that we’ll have snow for Christmas and I hope it happens.  It’s hard to believe that Christmas is only 8 days away and it seems to come faster every year.  We can look forward…

Dense Fog For Our Sunday Morning – Mid Michigan

Dense Fog For Our Sunday Morning – Mid Michigan

Visibility is about 1/4 of a mile right now and a freezing fog advisory is in effect.  I went out on my deck this morning and it was not slippery although there was a little ice on the railings.  The water in my rain gauge was not frozen so it seems that temperatures did not fall much below the freezing mark overnight.  This is the third morning that we have had fog, and that’s the down side of having warmer…
