Winter Has Returned To Mid Michigan

Winter Has Returned To Mid Michigan

After all the rain and wind of yesterday,  we woke to a world of white this morning.  The forecast called for less than an inch of snow, but we received about 3 inches.  We got 1.6 inches total in rain yesterday, and then another 0.34 of an inch in melted snow overnight, so I think that we have enough precipitation for awhile.  It is still quite windy this morning making it feel much colder than it is, and it will…

Very Windy And Wet In Mid Michigan

Very Windy And Wet In Mid Michigan

After a very wet Sunday, today will be dryer but with very strong winds.  A wind advisory is in effect until 4 PM and we could see gusts as high as 45 mph.  Yesterday’s story of the day was the fog.  Visibility was under half a mile a good part of the day with intermittent showers.  In all, we received over an inch and a half of rain, and some areas received over 2 inches.  I’m seeing some breaks in…

Our 8:45 AM temperature is 42°F (6°C), the humidity is 99%, and skies are overcast with moderate rain.  The dew point is 40°F (4°C) and the pressure is 29.57 in (1001.4 mb) and falling. …

Cloudy And Not As Warm In Mid Michigan

This morning is starting out with clouds and chilly temperatures.  There is rain in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow but at least it isn’t snow.  Temperatures are expected to remain above average over the next week and no one that I know is complaining.  I know that this isn’t going to last so we’ll enjoy it for now. Our 9:15 AM temp is 31°F (-1°C), the humidity is 89%, and skies are overcast.  The pressure is 29.97 in (1014.9…

Record Breaking Temps For Late December – Mid Michigan

Record Breaking Temps For Late December – Mid Michigan

Yesterday was a record breaker with high temperatures reaching the upper 50s to 60°F.  It was sunny a good part of the day, so it was even warmer where the sun was shining.  One of our local ski resorts showed people skiing in their shirt sleeves since they had a well-established base and skiing was remarkably good.  It will be interesting to see how long this lasts.  I know that we’ll have to pay for it at some point. Our…

A Very Pleasant Christmas Day For Mid Michigan

A Very Pleasant Christmas Day For Mid Michigan

The sun is out and temperatures are very pleasant.  This is supposed to continue right into the weekend and I’m not complaining although it would have been nice to have a little snow.  I’m just hoping that we don’t have to pay for this next month.  I hope that everyone is having a wonderful Christmas Day and that it is spent with family or close friends. Our 1:30 pm Temperature is 48°F (9°C), the humidity is 65%, and winds are…

Hoar Frost, Fog For Our Christmas Eve Day – Mid Michigan

Hoar Frost, Fog For Our Christmas Eve Day – Mid Michigan

Our Christmas Eve Day is starting out with fog and much cooler temperatures.  Highs yesterday rose into the 50s once again, but it won’t be that warm today.  Regardless, highs will still be above average and will remain so into the weekend.  This weather has been amazing considering that it’s the end of December.  I think Mother Nature is giving us a break after what she did to us in early November. Our 10:15 AM temperature is 30°F (-1°C), the…

Another Spring-Like December Day In Mid Michigan

Another Spring-Like December Day In Mid Michigan

This weather is fantastic.  Our November and December seems to have flip-flopped this year and it feels like anything but December outdoors.  Today is expected to be the warmest but temperatures will remain well above average through the weekend.  I do like snow for Christmas but it’s really hard to find fault with what we are having this year. Our 10:30 AM temperature is 45°F (7°F), the humidity is 61%, and skies are mostly clear.  Winds are from the southwest…

Another Beautiful December Day In Mid Michigan

Another Beautiful December Day In Mid Michigan

This weather is wonderful for late December.  I went out with a light jacket yesterday and took my dog out for a good run.  She really enjoyed it, and I think that she was starting to get cabin fever.  If it stayed this way the rest of the winter, I wouldn’t complain..  It feels more like Easter than Christmas, and it should continue for the remainder of the week.   So far, Farmer’s Almanac has been very wrong, at least for…

Almost Spring-Like In Mid Michigan On This First Day Of Winter

Almost Spring-Like In Mid Michigan On This First Day Of Winter

This weather is what we should have had in early November instead of 6 inches of snow, but that’s okay.  We’ll take it.  This entire week is expected to see temperatures well into the 40s and even topping off at 50°F on Monday.  Better yet, the sun should be plentiful and no precip expected until later next week.  Of course, we all know how fast that can change.  It will be perfect for any traveling and last minute Christmas shopping….
