Very Hot In Spite Of Last Night’s Storms – Mid Michigan

Very Hot In Spite Of Last Night’s Storms – Mid Michigan

We had storms move through the state early last night dropping 0.68″ in my rain gauge.  Some areas in the southern part of the state got over two inches.  We were briefly under a severe TS warning but it wasn’t that bad.  The first hit between 7-8 PM, then the other one came about 11 PM.  We just caught the edge of the second one and only got 0.09″ from that one.  One would have thought that they would’ve brought…

A Foggy Start To Our Monday – Mid Michigan

A Foggy Start To Our Monday – Mid Michigan

Our morning began with cloudy skies and fog.  It has now cleared up and has become a very nice day.  Temps are very warm but a significant breeze keeps it comfortable.   Mother Nature has cursed many parts of the country but we, in Michigan, have been lucky.  Although too hot for some, our weather lately has been lovely.  Mowing the lawn has become a weekly thing, with it growing almost overnight, with all the rain that we’ve had lately.  But…

Another Hot Day In Mid Michigan

Another Hot Day In Mid Michigan

After a sunny morning, the sky has clouded up and my weather station is showing one lightning strike 22 miles away.  I’m seeing some spotty showers to our southwest on radar but it looks mainly like light rain.  We plan to cook out this afternoon so I hope that the rain holds off until  after we’re done.  This hot weather isn’t expected to end anytime soon so the AC has been working overtime.  It has cooled off a bit since…

Very Hot In Mid Michigan

Very Hot In Mid Michigan

It seems like our temperatures keep going from one extreme to the other.  We’re in the low to mid 70s one week, then in the mid to upper 80s the next.  Today we could actually reach 90 degrees and that’s definitely too hot for my liking.  Even worse is the high humidity and dew point.  There is no cooling off expected anytime soon so we won’t be doing much outdoors this next week or so. Our 10:45 AM temperature is…

Another Hot One For Mid Michigan

Another Hot One For Mid Michigan

Our morning began with fog, then skies cleared as the fog burned off.  Temperatures never fell much overnight and it was one of those nights that we were very happy to have AC.  There is a very slight chance of rain today and most of the week, but nothing significant is expected.  There is no cool-down expected anytime soon. Our noon temperature is 81°F (27°C), the humidity is 62% and skies are partly cloudy.  Winds are from the NW at…

Perfect August Weather In Mid Michigan

Perfect August Weather In Mid Michigan

Yesterday’s drive home was pleasant and we had good weather all the way.  Today should be dry with typical August temperatures in the low 80s.  There is the possibility of rain tonight and over the next few days which we really don’t need.  It seems like we get very dry for a while, then when it does rain, it’s a deluge.  It’s been a strange summer weather-wise, and we can’t help but wonder what the fall and winter will bring. …

Our Last Day In Indian River- Northern Michigan

Our Last Day In Indian River- Northern Michigan

We’ll be heading home tomorrow, at least for another week or so.  There isn’t much time left of our summer.  It’s going by much too fast.  We have until the end of September before the campground closes for another year, and our sister, brother-in-law, at the cabins,  head back to Florida for the winter.  We were thinking of going across the bridge and checking out the U.P. this afternoon.  We’ll see how that goes.  The weather is expected to be…

Perfect Weather In Northern Michigan

Perfect Weather In Northern Michigan

After all the rain that we had during the early part of the week, the weather here is now perfect.  Highs are in the low to mid 70s and just a nice breeze.  The upcoming week is supposed to be the same and no rain mentioned until the end of the week.  I know that it will probably change but we’ll be going back home either tomorrow or Tuesday.  We haven’t quite made up our minds yet. Our 11:30 AM…

Possibly, A Stormy Tuesday In Mid Michigan

Possibly, A Stormy Tuesday In Mid Michigan

We had thunderstorms pass overnight, but most missed my area.  There was only 0.06″ in my gauge this morning although my weather station is showing multiple lightning strikes with the closest 17 miles away.  The weather service is saying that our area could have severe weather today and tonight, so I’m hoping that it misses us also.  We were planning a trip to our campground today but decided to wait until tomorrow, because of the severe weather threat. Right now…

Overnight Thunderstorms Didn’t Bring Down Temperatures in Mid Michigan

Overnight Thunderstorms Didn’t Bring Down Temperatures in Mid Michigan

I listened to our weather forecast on the 11 PM news last night, and there was a large mass of rain showing on radar over Wisconsin.  It appeared to me that it was heading in our direction, but the meteorologist said that it would move to the north and my area would get very little if any of it.  Wrong!  About 3AM, I got an alert from Storm Shield that a strong thunderstorm was heading our way, then I dozed…
