I have lived in Michigan all of my life and became very interested in the weather after the 1953 Flint tornado. This was one of the few EF5 tornadoes in our state's history (since records have been kept). Although we are not strangers to severe storms in Michigan, EF5 tornadoes are very rare. I live in an area where we rarely get a good thunderstorm, in fact, we haven't had one all summer. When I lived down by Detroit, they were frequent during the spring and summer months. I love experiencing the four seasons here in Michigan and I wouldn't live anywhere else.
Much Cooler After The Rain . . .

Much Cooler After The Rain . . .

Yesterday began with warm temperature, then ended with rain.  It was dry until early evening when a line of storms passed over dumping almost an inch of rain.  That ushered in a cold front which will keep our temperatures below average for the next week.  Today has been pleasant but a bit breezy.  The sky has a significant amount of cloud cover which keeps the sun in and out. Our 2 PM temperature is 63°F, the humidity is 47%, and…

A Rainy Day . . . .

A Rainy Day . . . .

After a very warm, wet summer, our autumn season is beginning just the opposite.  My area is looking at below average temperature for the next week or so.  For those of us who hate hot weather, this isn’t a bad thing.  I’m just hoping that we don’t see more rain than what we have had.  Today began with sun, but now we have rain, and it is expected to last most of the day and overnight.  We could even have…

Happy Labor Day . . . .

Happy Labor Day . . . .

What a lovely day!  It’s perfect for my liking.  There is plenty of sun, light breezes an comfortable temperatures.  It doesn’t get any better than this.   There isn’t any rain in our forecast until Wednesday and that’s fine.  We’ve had too much rain this summer, although I’m sure the farmers are loving it.  I’m seeing mixed predictions for what our winter can be.  It’s been a few years since we’ve had real winter weather. Our 2:15 PM temperature is 76°F,…

Wonderful Weather For The Holiday Weekend . . . .

Today couldn’t be any nicer.  We have mild temperatures and a very light breeze.  There is plenty of sun and it is a good day to spend outdoors or cooking out.  As for me, not sure yet what I’ll be doing. Our 2:15 PM temperature is 74°F, the humidity is 42%, and winds are from the NNE at 2-5 mph.  The pressure is 30.22 in and steady.  The dew point is 48°F and visibility is 11 miles.  Yesterday’s high was…

A Comfortable Day . . . .

A Comfortable Day . . . .

Today is a cool, dry day with a mix of sun and clouds.  Temperatures are right where they should be (in my opinion), but for some, it will be much too cool, especially for those in the northern portions of the state.  Last night was pretty chilly and a little too cool to have the window open all night.  Highs will be mostly in the 70s next week, rising to near  80°F a few days. Our 12:45 PM temperature is…

Thunderstorm In Progress . . . .

Thunderstorm In Progress . . . .

Today is one of those days when it can’t make up it’s mind if it wants to rain or not.  There is a thunder cell over us right now, and it is raining quite hard.  We had another moderate rain earlier today.  There is over half an inch in my rain gauge just since this morning.  Radar is showing that there is not other storms behind this one but that’s what I thought a few hours ago.  Temperatures will remain…

Much Cooler Today . . . .

Much Cooler Today . . . .

The day began with clear skies, but now clouds are moving in.  We do have a chance for hit and miss showers once again, just like the past two days.  I had to run the furnace this morning for the first time.  High temps for the rest of the week should remain in the 70S. Our 12:30 PM temperature is 66°F, the humidity is 46%, and skies are partly cloudy.  The pressure is 30.10 in and rising.  The dew point…

A Chance For Showers . . . .

A Chance For Showers . . . .

The day began with mostly clear skies, but now we have mostly clouds.  There is rain in the forecast and it has become quite breezy this afternoon.  Temperatures will be comfortable.  We will see a big drop in our temps over the next few days with highs barely making it into the 70s.  It will remain cool the remainder of the week. Our 2:30 PM temperature is 72°F, the humidity is 50% and skies are mostly cloudy.  Winds are from…

Cloudy And Cool . . . .

Cloudy And Cool . . . .

We have a little rain showing on radar, but none in my area.  There is a chance for thunderstorms later, and I don’t think we’ll be seeing much sun today.  At least temperatures will remain comfortable, and I’m hoping that we have seen the last of the  90 degree weather. Our 12:15 PM temperature is 71°F, the humidity is 80%, and skies are overcast.  Winds are from the SSW at 2-6 mph.  The pressure is 29.84 in and falling.  The…

Cloudy And Cool . . . .

We were supposed to see more sun today but so far it hasn’t happened.  Today will be cool with our high much below average.  I won’t complain about that.  This has been a very hot summer and I’m ready for some respite from it. Our 2 PM temperature is 73°F, the humidity is 69%, and skies are overcast.  Winds are from the NE at 0-5 mph and the pressure is 30.06 in and falling.  The dew point is 60°F and…
