I have lived in Michigan all of my life and became very interested in the weather after the 1953 Flint tornado. This was one of the few EF5 tornadoes in our state's history (since records have been kept). Although we are not strangers to severe storms in Michigan, EF5 tornadoes are very rare. I live in an area where we rarely get a good thunderstorm, in fact, we haven't had one all summer. When I lived down by Detroit, they were frequent during the spring and summer months. I love experiencing the four seasons here in Michigan and I wouldn't live anywhere else.
Too Hot For Me . . . .

Too Hot For Me . . . .

We will see temperatures in the 90s today, with the heat index over 100F  This is not my kind of weather.  It was very warm overnight and my AC ran all night which it usually doesn’t do.  We could see some thunderstorms later today and overnight.  Those would be welcome if it would cool down a little. Our 12:15 PM temperature is 90°F, the humidity is 60%, and winds are from the SW at 5-12 mph.  Skies are mostly clear. …

More Hot Weather… . . . .

More Hot Weather… . . . .

We have another round of very hot weather, and it is expected to last for quite a while.  We can expect heat indexes into the triple digits, so I don’t think we’ll be spending much time outdoors. The past two days were beautiful and we were able to give the AC a rest.  I just hope that it doesn’t decide to quit working over the next week or so. Our 10 AM temperature is 74°F, the humidity is 62%, and…

Perfect July Weather . . . .

Perfect July Weather . . . .

This is my kind of weather.  Plenty of sun and comfortable temperatures and humidity.  Although there is still some smoke in the air from the wildfires, it doesn’t seem as noticeable today.  It seems good to turn the AC off for awhile and enjoy the fresh air circulating through the house. Our 11:15 AM temperature is 71°F, the humidity is 69%, and winds are from the ENE at 2-4 mph.   The pressure is 30.07 in and rising, and visibility is…

Another Stormy Day . . . .

Another Stormy Day . . . .

Once again, we are in the severe storm area on the map.  The weather computers are not in agreement as to how affected we will be.    Right now, we have clouds and moderate winds.  Radar is showing  storms to our southwest and north.  One computer shows us to be in direct line for these storms.  Another shows that it will split and move to our north and south, totally missing us.  I guess we’ll find out This afternoon.  We…

Could See Some Rough Weather Today . . . .

Could See Some Rough Weather Today . . . .

We have a thin cloud cover this morning which will increase as the day goes on.  We are in the area for possible severe storms this afternoon and tonight.  My area has been very lucky so far as damaging weather goes.  Yesterday was very hot and there was still a lot of smoke in the air.  Today doesn’t seem as bad.  I wish that all this flooding rain would leave the US alone, and move up to Canada and  put…

Air Quality Alert . . . .

Air Quality Alert . . . .

Today is hot and smoky from the Canadian wildfires.  It seems that we go through this every year anymore.  We are being warmed to stay indoors as much as possible, especially those with respiratory  conditions.  Other than that, it’s really to hot to do anything outdoors anyway.  In my picture, you can see the smoky haze in the distance but I think it was worse yesterday.  In the evening, you could actually smell it.  The Air Quality is very unhealthy…

We have a very hot, muggy morning this Saturday.  The weather map shows us to be in a possible severe storm area although locals weather people don’t think it will happen.  Not for us anyway.  That doesn’t mean that we won’t get any rain, just not at severe levels. . . . but who knows? Our 11:30 AM temperature is 82°F, the humidity is 75%, and skies are partly cloudy.  Winds are from the S at 3-11 mph.  The pressure…

A Rainy Friday . . . .

A Rainy Friday . . . .

Our Friday looks to be a wet one.  It’s raining right now and showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast.  Some storms could be strong.  This has really been a wet year so far.  Not just for us but the entire eastern and mid portions of the country.  So many are having floods which no one likes to see, especially the disaster in Texas.  This is supposed to be our dry season and it is anything but.  Hopefully, it will…

Fog To Start The Day, Now Some Sun . . . .

Fog To Start The Day, Now Some Sun . . . .

After strong thunderstorms and a lot of rain yesterday, today started out damp but now is drying out some.  We had dense fog early which was gone by noon.  Now we have clouds with a few peeks of the sun.  There is no more rain in the forecast until tomorrow, and it looks like we could have more strong storms for our weekend.  This is supposed to be the dry season for us.  I wish it would happen. Our 1:15…

More Rain In The Forecast . . . .

More Rain In The Forecast . . . .

We have had an abundance of rain so far this spring and summer.  I’m ready for the usual dry spell that we’re supposed to have this time of year.  Today we have a slight chance for some severe storms, and we did have rain overnight . . . .quarter of an inch.  At this time, the sun is out but there are plenty of clouds also.  None look like rain so far. Our 12:30 PM temperature is 80F,  the humidity…
