I have lived in Michigan all of my life and became very interested in the weather after the 1953 Flint tornado. This was one of the few EF5 tornadoes in our state's history (since records have been kept). Although we are not strangers to severe storms in Michigan, EF5 tornadoes are very rare. I live in an area where we rarely get a good thunderstorm, in fact, we haven't had one all summer. When I lived down by Detroit, they were frequent during the spring and summer months. I love experiencing the four seasons here in Michigan and I wouldn't live anywhere else.
A Perfect Summer Day . . . .

A Perfect Summer Day . . . .

Today is about as nice a summer day as one could hope for.  Temperatures are just right and it isn’t very humid.  We have plenty of sun with a few clouds floating by.  We aren’t expecting any rain today, so a good day to get out and do whatever. Our 2 PM temperature is 80F, the humidity is 51% and skies are partly cloudy.  Winds are from the SW at 2-5 mph and the dew point is 60F.  Visibility is…

Welcome Cooler Temperatures . . . . .

Welcome Cooler Temperatures . . . . .

After a hot, muggy yesterday, today is much cooler.  We should see some sun later this afternoon, and highs are expected to reach the upper 70s.  There should be less humidity also.  We did have two thunderstorms yesterday.  The first was the strongest with a lot of rain and wind.  The second one was brief with little rain.  In all, we got 0.29″. Our 12:30 PM temperature is 67°F, the humidity is 85% and skies are overcast.  Winds are from…

Thunderstorms On The Way . . . .

Thunderstorms On The Way . . . .

It is a  hot, muggy day, and it feels like a good storm could happen.  At this time, I’m seeing a few small cells sprinkled over the map, and there is one just to our southwest which looks like it could hit us.  There is the possibility that some storms could be severe, but none happening at this time. Our 1:30 PM temperature is 89°F, the humidity is 58% and winds are from the SW at 4-10 mph.  The pressure…

Uncomfortably HOT . . . .

Uncomfortably HOT . . . .

This has been a very warm summer so far.  I think we’ve had the AC on more so far than all of last summer.  I’m not fond of it to be sure.  Thankfully, the upcoming week will give a little relief.  There is the chance for popup storms with the heat and humidity today and tomorrow.   We were barely missed by one yesterday, that caused some damage just to our south. Our 1 PM temperature is 87°F, the humidity is…

Happy Birthday, America . . . .

Happy Birthday, America . . . .

What spectacular weather for our favorite summer holiday.  Although temps are uncomfortably hot, it’s great for spending time on the water, which most people are doing.  As for us, it will be quiet with nothing special planned.  We may make a fire later unless it’s too hot.  We’ll see how that goes. Our 2PM temperature is 86°F, the humidity is 51%, and winds are from the SW at 2-5 mph.  The pressure is 30.04 in and falling.  The dew point…

Fine Summer Weather .. . . . .

Fine Summer Weather .. . . . .

For those heading to northern Michigan for the holiday weekend, it looks like you’ll have great weather.  Also the fireworks shouldn’t be affected either.  There is always the chance for a popup storm, but they never last that long.  I hope that everyone stays safe. Our 10:15 AM temperature is 77°F (25°C), the humidity is 65%, and skies are clear.  Winds are from the WNW at 2-4 mph, and the pressure is 29.94 in (1013.9 mb) and steady.  Yesterday’s high…

Typical Summer Weather . . . .

Typical Summer Weather . . . .

Today began with clear skies and very warm temperatures,  now we have mostly clouds.  With the heat, humidity and high dew point, there is the possibility for a random thunderstorm to emerge throughout the day.  This is typical for summers in Michigan.  At least we have been spared from the severe weather south and west of us.  Our fourth of July weekend is expected to be nice, so that’s a good thing. Our 1:30 PM temperature is 85°F, the humidity…

Plenty of sun and lower humidity.  That’s what we can expect today.  Just a good day to be outdoors. Thunderstorms For Our Afternoon . . . .

Thunderstorms For Our Afternoon . . . .

We just had a thunderstorm pass us.  We were under a severe TS warning, but were in Owosso.  They just got the edge of it, bu here at home, there is three quarters of an inch in my raid gauge, so it seems like most of it passed right over us.  As far as being severe, I don’t see any signs of strong winds so it couldn’t have been too bad. Our 3:30 PM temperature is 76°F, the humidity is…

Typical Summer Day . . .

Typical Summer Day . . .

Today will be the type of day that you think of when you think of summer.  There will be plenty of sun and very warm temperatures.  It will be perfect for a day at the beach or on the boat.  This upcoming week is expected to be warm, but not extremely hot.  There is a chance for more stormy weather tomorrow but  we’ll wait and see on that one. Our 11:15 AM temperature is 80°F, the humidity is 63%, and…
