I have lived in Michigan all of my life and became very interested in the weather after the 1953 Flint tornado. This was one of the few EF5 tornadoes in our state's history (since records have been kept). Although we are not strangers to severe storms in Michigan, EF5 tornadoes are very rare. I live in an area where we rarely get a good thunderstorm, in fact, we haven't had one all summer. When I lived down by Detroit, they were frequent during the spring and summer months. I love experiencing the four seasons here in Michigan and I wouldn't live anywhere else.
Not Bad Weather For Mid November . . . .

Not Bad Weather For Mid November . . . .

We have light cloud cover and filtered sun at this time.  The morning began with frost and clear skies.  Temps should be a little warmer today with light winds, so it won’t be a bad day at all for November.  Our long range forecast is calling for a very snowy winter.  I’m hoping that it holds off until Christmas and after. Our 2:45 PM temperature is 44F, the humidity is 56%, and winds are from the NW at 0-4 mph. …

Feels Like Winter . . . .

Feels Like Winter . . . .

T Today really feels like winter. We’ll be lucky if the temperatures makes it into the 40s today.  At least the winds aren’t too strong.  There is some rain showing on radar, and we saw a few specks on the windshield earlier.  The dew point and humidity aren’t that high so I think most is drying up before hitting the ground.  There is snow in the forecast but no significant amounts are expected. Our 1:45 PM temperature is 36°F, the…

A Brighter Day . . . .

A Brighter Day . . . .

We should see more sun today, but that won’t do much for warming it up.  Highs will be about the same as yesterday with no real warmup coming anytime soon.  I guess we have to expect that with it being the middle of November.  Looking at my past blogs for this date in previous years, I’m seeing that we already had quite a bit of snow by this time.  We’ve been lucky so far, and I’m hoping that it continues…

Cold And Cloudy . . . .

Cold And Cloudy . . . .

Yesterday was quite nice even though the wind was brisk.  We got a lot of last minute yard work done, and the lawn was mowed for probably the last time this year.  It is cloudy today and some of the clouds are pretty dark, but there is no rain in our forecast.  Every so often we see a glimpses of the sun but it doesn’t last long.  Weather-wise, it’s a typical November day. Our 1:30 PM temperature is 44°F, the…

Much Warmer For A Few Days . . . .

Much Warmer For A Few Days . . . .

We will have much warmer temperatures than what we had over the last few days.  It will feel like early autumn once again.  We could see highs in the lower 60s today and tomorrow.  Next week should be mostly dry, and seasonable temperatures will be the norm. Our 11 AM temperature is 50°F, the humidity is 56% and skies are mostly clear.  The pressure is 30.05 in and falling.  Winds are from the south at 0-7 mph and the dew…

Bright And Warmer . . . .

It would be really nice outdoors if not for the wind.  At least the high temps are closer to normal than the last few days.  Today is windy once again but at least we have clear skies.  The next few days will be even warmer with highs near 60°F. Our 4 pm temperature is 50°F, the humidity is 42% and the pressure is 30.10 in and steady.  Skies are clear and the dew point is 28°F.  Visibility is 10 miles. …

Warmer Temperatures . . . .

Warmer Temperatures . . . .

After a very cold Tuesday, we are getting some relief today.  Temps were on the rise last night, and it was about eight degrees warmer at 8 AM than it was at midnight.  Today is quite mild but winds are strong and that make it feel much colder than it is.  The snow is now totally gone and there isn’t more in the forecast at the present time. Our 1:30 temp is 47°F, the humidity is 60%, and winds are…

A Little Warmer, Snow Melting . . . .

A Little Warmer, Snow Melting . . . .

We continue to have very cold temperatures for this date, but sun this morning melted most of the snow.  Now the clouds have moved in again and there are only patches of snow left.  My deck is still covered but I’m sure it will be gone very soon.  Temps will remain below normal for the next dew days. Our 1:15 PM temp is 35°F, the humidity is 70%, and skies are overcast.  Winds are from the WSW at 7-14 mph,…

Feels Like Winter . . . .

After a day of intermittent snow showers, today is sunny but very cold.  Yesterday’s snow half melted during the afternoon, but then we received more after dark and overnight.  We had 2 inches on my deck this morning, and 0.20″ of melted precip.  There is a chance for more snow showers later today, but no sign of it yet. Our 1:15 PM temperature is 28°F, the humidity is 64%, and skies are partly cloudy.  Winds are from the NNW at…

Our First Snowfall . . . .

Our First Snowfall . . . .

Snow began falling overnight and left an inch of snow cover by 8 AM.  Light snow has continued to fall since then and the wet snow is clinging to everything.  It’s a very pretty scene.  Temperatures won’t make it our of the 30s today and we could get another inch by the time it is finished. Our 10:30 AM temp is 33°F, the humidity is 94%, and skies are cloudy with light snow.  Winds are from the north at 2-5…
