More Much Needed Rain For Mid Michigan

More Much Needed Rain For Mid Michigan

Our Wednesday morning is beginning with light to moderate rain showers.  I emptied 0.54″ from my gauge at 8 AM this morning and it has been raining ever since.    It appears that this will last most of the day and that’s okay.  This should really put a dent in the rain deficit that we have this autumn season.  I don’t know if it will save our colors since we have very little.  One meteorologist said that we are pretty much…

The Past Few Days Eased The Drought – Mid Michigan

The Past Few Days Eased The Drought – Mid Michigan

We have been under drought conditions over the past month, and the past few days have put a dent in it.  Rain amounts on Thursday, Friday, and yesterday have totaled just under an inch in my  area and it was badly needed.  In fact, the drought has really affected our fall colors as we hardly have any color at all.  Leaves are drying up on the trees and falling.  What color we do have is dingy and dull.  I don’t…

We Have Rain To Start Our Day – Mid Michigan

We Have Rain To Start Our Day – Mid Michigan

We are finally getting some much needed rain. We received 0.27″ yesterday, and another 0.35″ overnight.   Radar is showing that it is far from over and that’s good news, although today shouldn’t be a total washout.  We could see a little sun later today along with strong winds.  I hung my Halloween decor out and this happens every time.  If it gets too windy, I’ll just have to go out and rescue them. Our 8:45 AM EDT temp is 65°F…

A Very Chilly Morning in Mid Michigan

A Very Chilly Morning in Mid Michigan

This morning really looked and felt like autumn.  The highs yesterday were still well above normal, but the overnight low was right on the mark.  There still hasn’t been a frost here but I don’t think that it is in the too distant future.  We received 0.03″ of rain yesterday before skies cleared, and there was a gorgeous full moon last night.  We really need more rain as things are very dry but our temps will continue to be very…

A Little Rain Expected For Our Wednesday in Mid Michigan

A Little Rain Expected For Our Wednesday in Mid Michigan

We have overcast skies this morning but no rain so far.  Last night was very warm with a low only at 70°F and the AC running all night.  Radar is showing a few light showers heading our way but light at best.   Temps aren’t expected to rise much more than they are right now and that’s fine.  It’s comfortable. Our 9:45 AM temp is 71°F (22°C), the humidity is 68%, and skies are cloudy.  Winds are from the SSW at…

Another Beautiful October Day in Mid Michigan

Another Beautiful October Day in Mid Michigan

We just couldn’t ask for nicer weather than what we are having.  There is rain in the forecast over the next several days but we actually could use it.  We should see temps in the 80s this afternoon and that should make a lot of people happy. Our 1 PM temp is 83°F (28°F), the humidity is 44%, the pressure is 30.31 in (1026.1 mb) and steady.  Visibility is 10 miles and the dew point is 57°F (14°C).  Winds are…

A Beautiful Early October Morning in Mid Michigan

A Beautiful Early October Morning in Mid Michigan

We have another heat wave on the way for the next several days and I’m loving it.  Yesterday was quite nice with comfortable temperatures and sun most of the day.  I love this type of weather in October which is my favorite month of the year.  Although it just brings the promise of winter, it’s a beautiful finale to the summer months. Our 11 AM temp is 69°F (21°F), the humidity is 49%, and skies are clear.  The pressure is…

Another Sunny, Cold Morning in Mid Michigan

Another Sunny, Cold Morning in Mid Michigan

I shouldn’t be surprised with this weather since it is closer to normal than what we had a week ago.  I’ve noticed that the colors haven’t changed much since we left 10 days ago.   I guess that the 90 degree weather put a hold on the leaves for now.  We are expecting some above-normal highs once again this week, but nothing like we have had.  I don’t mind the 60s and 70s one bit, in fact, that’s perfect for my…

Our Last Day in Topinabee is a Chilly One

Our Last Day in Topinabee is a Chilly One

Last night was very chilly with frost advisories and lows falling below freezing in some spots.  We did have some spotty showers yesterday afternoon but skies cleared later in the day.  We are heading back home today and I will miss northern Michigan and wish we could stay longer.  But all good things come to an end as they say, and we’ll look forward to next year.  We ordered a new trailer yesterday as our current one is almost 20…

More Summer-Like Weather for Mid Michigan

More Summer-Like Weather for Mid Michigan

It seems that August and September have switched this year.  We had below normal temps most of August and now that September is here, we continue to have temperatures that are much above normal.  I can’t ever remember having it this hot this late in the season, and especially for this length of time.  What’s even better is that it is expected to continue right through the weekend. We are heading up to Indian River today for the last time…
