A Springlike Day in Mid Michigan

A Springlike Day in Mid Michigan

Today’s temperatures will continue much above normal and there is no snow to be found anywhere.  We were supposed to go on a sleigh ride today at the Nature Conservatory this afternoon, and I guess that will be a wagon ride instead.  At least we won’t be freezing.  Highs yesterday reached the low 50s and with plenty of sun, it felt even warmer.  Today won’t be quite as nice because of strong winds and the temperatures won’t get quite as…

Another Temporary Warmup Coming – Mid Michigan

Another Temporary Warmup Coming – Mid Michigan

This weather is crazy with below normal temps for a few days, then above normal following.  It can’t seem to make up its mind.  We are scheduled to go on a sleigh ride on Saturday, and of course, all the snow melted.  So it looks like it will be a wagon ride instead.  At least we won’t be freezing as temps are expected to rise into the mid to upper 40s.  It’ll be fun regardless.  Our temps have been rising…

Winter Has Returned to Mid Michigan

Winter Has Returned to Mid Michigan

Once again, Mother Nature is reminding us that it is too early in the season for mild weather.  At least we have lost most of our snow, getting us ready for the next round.  There are no pending storms on the horizon for us at this time, but we all know how quickly that can change.  Temperatures for the next week are expected to be near normal to slightly above.  We never did get the accumulation that was predicted for…

This morning was quite mild with the temp round 40.  Since then the temperature has been falling and is now  at the freezing point.  We had drizzle to start the day and now it is snowing.  The forecast is calling for less than an inch of snow with the possibility of freezing rain.  Our current snow is almost gone and there isn’t any  real accumulations expected anytime soon Our 2:30 PM temp is 32 (0°C), the humidity is 89%, and…

Nasty Weather For our Sunday in Mid Michigan

Nasty Weather For our Sunday in Mid Michigan

Today is misty, damp, cloudy, and really not a nice day weather-wise.  We are under a dense fog advisory but visibility is still around 5 miles.  I’m thinking that it may get worse tonight  Temperatures are quite mild and we are losing a little snow every day.  Our ground cover is now down to 2.5 inches as of 9 AM this morning.  There is the possibility of heavy rain Tuesday which will change to snow by night time.  It isn’t…

Mild, Pleasant Weather is Upon Us in Mid Michigan

Mild, Pleasant Weather is Upon Us in Mid Michigan

Yesterday was quite pleasant although a bit breezy.  The wind even felt mild compared to this past week.  We should continue to see temps that are above normal for the next 4-5 days and that will be welcome.  We lost a little snow cover yesterday and it is now down to about 3.5 inches.  The sun was out quite a bit of the day with increased clouds by nighttime.  This morning is beginning with mostly cloudy skies and a colorful…

Much Warmer Temps are on The Way for Mid Michigan

Much Warmer Temps are on The Way for Mid Michigan

The big story yesterday was the meteor on Tuesday evening.  It caused a very large “boom” which registered as 2 on the Richter scale.  Many claimed that it shook their houses.  I saw the flash through my window but heard no noise.  Several of my friends were outdoors when it happened and were truly amazed by what they saw.   The noise apparently was caused when it exploded and particles from it have supposedly landed in areas about 20-25 miles to…

Another Day of Snow – Mid Michigan

Another Day of Snow – Mid Michigan

It seems that Mother Nature turned on the snow machine and forgot to turn it off.  It has snowed now for the past 5 days . . . . . not huge amounts, just enough to keep the roads slippery.   We received another 1.5 inches yesterday and we now have 5 inches of ground cover.  There is another system heading our way for the weekend but temps are expected to be warm enough that much of the precip should be…

A Little Warmer Today – Mid Michigan

A Little Warmer Today – Mid Michigan

We woke to a world of hoar frost this Sunday morning, and beautiful it is!    Along with the beauty are very cold temperatures.  At least we are expecting warmer temps for this upcoming week.  Yesterday brought cloudy skies and intermittent snow showers most of the day.  There was very little accumulation however.  We have about 4.5 inches of snow cover and it should last most of this week.  Warmer weather is heading our way with projected highs in the 40s…

Another Four Inches of Snow Cover for Mid Michigan

Another Four Inches of Snow Cover for Mid Michigan

It doesn’t seem like we even lost our snow from previously but I guess it’s a good thing that we did.   We received four inches yesterday, exactly what we lost in the thaw.  We also have the frigid temperatures that we had over the holidays.  That we could do without.  Hopefully, this won’t last as long as the previous cold spell.  Regardless, what will be will be and there is no use in complaining.  Freezing rain preceded the snow making…
