Another Summer-Like Day For Mid Michigan

Another Summer-Like Day For Mid Michigan

There really isn’t much more to say about our weather other than it being great!  We are expecting it to end, however, with much cooler temps and rain for the weekend and into early next week.  Regardless, our weather so far this month has been nicer than usual and we’ll take it.   The extended forecasts are predicting warmer than average temps into mid October. Our 11 AM temp is 75F, the humidity is 57%, and skies are clear.  Winds are…

A Great End Of Summer Day In Mid Michigan

A Great End Of Summer Day In Mid Michigan

We have clear skies, light breezes, and very warm temperatures.  It’s warm enough to have the AC back on but it got a rest the past three days.  I had my window open last night and actually got cold.  Lows fell to the upper 40s.  This gorgeous weather is expected to last through the weekend, then another cool-down. Our 3 PM temperature is 80°F, the humidity is 44%, and skies are clear.  The dew point is 53°F and winds are…

Warm And Pleasant In Mid Michigan

Warm And Pleasant In Mid Michigan

Today turned out to be a very pleasant late summer day.  It is sunny, winds are light, and the humidity is low.   It’s just a nice day to spend outdoors doing something because we won’t be having many more of them.  This year is just flying by and I can’t believe that summer is almost over.  We are expecting the rest of this month to be warmer than normal and I’m hoping that October is just as nice. Our 2:30…

Still Cloudy And Cool In Mid Michigan

Still Cloudy And Cool In Mid Michigan

Yesterday was chilly and cloudy.  We were supposed to see the sun late in the day, but it never happened.  Today we have more of the same, and temperatures will still be on the cooler side.  Once again, they are saying that we should have a little sun by day’s end, but so far it is still overcast.  Highs are expected to reach the upper 70s  but that remains to be seen also.  At any rate, it’s not raining and…

Cloudy And Gloomy For This Labor Day – Mid Michigan

Cloudy And Gloomy For This Labor Day – Mid Michigan

The weather is certainly different from what was originally predicted.  We have sprinkles this morning and cloudy skies.  The temps are also cooler than what was supposed to be, but that’s not unusual for Michigan.  Yesterday was cloudy and chilly.  Highs never even reached 70 degrees and I’m wondering if they will today.  Chances for rain were only 20%, and it isn’t enough to do any good.  Oh well, it is what it is. Our 10 AM temperature is 63°F,…

A Welcome Cool-Down In Mid Michigan

A Welcome Cool-Down In Mid Michigan

This Labor Day Weekend has been pretty nice weather-wise.  Yesterday was hot with highs reaching into the upper 80s.  Thunderstorms developed late in the day, and just seemed to hang around without much movement.  Some areas got 2+ inches of rain but we didn’t get even a drop.  It was rather strange because the storms didn’t seem to move much and just sat in one area for quite a while.  We have a slight chance of rain this afternoon so…

Meteorological Autumn Begins In Mid Michigan

Meteorological Autumn Begins In Mid Michigan

Although the weather service considers today as the first day of autumn, our weather seems more like mid July.  Temps are in the mid 80s, and light breezes  make it feel even hotter.  It sounds like we’ll have a nice Labor Day weekend for those who plan on a day at the beach, picnics, or boating.  As for us, we have no big plans.  My kids will be home for the weekend and we’ll probably have a campfire.  That’s our…

Windy And Warm In Mid Michigan

Windy And Warm In Mid Michigan

The winds are a bit strong today but that helps keep the temperatures at a comfortable level.  I don’t have the AC on today because of the nice breeze blowing through my house.  Even though it is quite warm, it’s tolerable.  I love having the windows open and hearing the sounds of the outdoors.  We’ll be closed in soon enough with the beginning of meteorological autumn beginning tomorrow.  I can’t believe how fast the past three months have gone. Our…

Severe Storms Cause Much Damage In Southern Michigan

Severe Storms Cause Much Damage In Southern Michigan

The storms that rolled through southern Michigan yesterday certainly left their mark.  Fortunately, my area was spared from much of the damage, but other areas, including Detroit weren’t as lucky.  My daughter lives in Wixom and she is still without power.  The storms moved fast and caused destruction from around Midland south.  The Detroit area appears to have gotten the worst of it.  Today is much cooler and enough breeze to have all the window open.  We haven’t seen any…

Last Night’s Storms Were A Bust For Us – Mid Michigan

Last Night’s Storms Were A Bust For Us – Mid Michigan

We were promised rain . . . . a lot of rain yesterday, and I think everyone got it but us.  There was only 0.06″ in my gauge this morning while other stations were reporting anywhere from half an inch to almost two inches.  The weather service is saying that we can try again later today.  Our partly cloudy skies of this morning have already become overcast, and there is a chance for some strong storms.  We’ll see how that…
