Long Awaited Solar Eclipse Is History – Mid Michigan Aug. 22, 2017
Our Monday was quite nice early, and skies were mostly clear during the eclipse. But afterwards, it clouded up and we now have light rain this morning. Today shouldn’t be a complete wash-out with drier conditions expected later. I did a blog late yesterday and I’m not finding it here. Maybe I didn’t hit “Publish” . . . . I don’t know. So far, we have received only 0.03 inches of precip as of 8:30, but rain has been falling steady since then. The AC is off and much cooler temps are expected the remainder of this week. In fact, I’m seeing lows in the 40s a few nights. That’s fine with me.
I must admit that I was disappointed with our eclipse. I expected it to get much darker than it did. I didn’t get to watch it since I was at work, but I kept looking out the window every so often so see how dark it was getting. It wasn’t much different than a cloudy day here in Michigan. Later, I heard that there will be another one April 8, 2024 which will be more localized for us. In fact, the extreme southeastern corner of our state will be in the direct path. I hope I live long enough to see it.
