Some Much Needed Rain for Northern Michigan
We finally received some rain overnight, but since I have no rain gauge here, I’m not sure how much. The closest CoCoRahs station that I could find was Mackinaw City, and they reported 0.16 inches. Other stations to our west reported up to 3/4 of an inch. This morning is very cloudy, cool, and damp. They have issued a frost advisory for tonight but not at home, I hope. This will be our last day here in Topinabee and I hate to see it end. Our campground is mostly empty now with just a few snowbirds left as they’ll be heading back to Florida, or some other southern destination, within the next few days. I hate packing up at the end of camping season. There is so much to do, winterizing the trailer, stripping the beds and emptying all the cupboards and closets. Our week here was wonderful and the weather was like mid July most of the week. We certainly can’t complain.
Our 9 AM temperature is 54°F (12°C), the humidity is 87%, and we have light rain. Winds are from the NW at 10 mph, and the pressure is 30.00 in (1015.6 mb) and falling. The dew point is 48°F (8°C). Yesterday’s high was 68°F (18°C) and the overnight low was 48°F (8°C). Averages for this date are 63°F / 39°F. The record high for Sept. 28 is 83°F (28°C) set in 1971, and the record low is 23°F (-5°C) set in 1957.
