Three More Inches of Snow – Mid Michigan
I have to say that the weather service really blew it yesterday. Our forecast called for light snow with accumulations of less than an inch. We got three. I measured 8.75 inches on the ground this morning. Today could see more minor accumulations and there is even a chance for freezing drizzle. There is a significant warm up coming by mid week with temps near 40°F expected. That won’t be warm enough to melt much snow, but at least it should clear the roads. As for today, radar is still showing lake effect snow moving over the state, especially southern lower Michigan, so it appears that more shoveling will be in order.
Our 10 AM EST temperature is 24°F (-4°C), the humidity is 93%, and skies are cloudy. Winds are from the E at 3 mph, and the wind chill is 19°F (-7°C). The pressure is 29.94 in (1013.6 mb) and rising. The dew point is 21°F (-6°C) and visibility is 3 miles. Yesterday’s high was 25°F (-4°F) and the overnight low was 21°F (-6°C). The record high for Dec. 15 is 61°F (16°C) set in 1971, and the record low is -12°F (-24°C) set in 1917. Averages for this date are 34°F / 21°F. Sunrise this morning was at 8:03 AM and sunset will be at 5:04 PM.
