February Temperatures For Our Saturday in Mid Michigan

February Temperatures For Our Saturday in Mid Michigan

Although we have clear skies this morning, our temperatures still feel like late winter.  We had a quick snow squall in the late afternoon Friday which created almost whiteout conditions; but thankfully it only lasted about 5 minutes without much accumulation.  Any snow that fell melted right away.  There was a very light cover of snow this morning and that was gone as soon as the sun came up.  Our high today will be about 20° below the average.  It’s…

Another White Morning in Mid Michigan

Another White Morning in Mid Michigan

Once again, our world is white this morning.  We only received a little over an inch so I expect that will be gone by this afternoon. It melted down to 0.07″.  Temperatures are expected to be  rising over the next week, so hopefully this will be the last time that we’ll see accumulating  snow.  This unrelenting winter has to end sometime. Our 8:30 AM temp is 33°F (0°C), the humidity is 91% and skies are overcast.  Winds are from the…

A Break in the Weather Before the Next Storm – Mid Michigan

A Break in the Weather Before the Next Storm – Mid Michigan

This morning seems peaceful with sun and light winds.  Unfortunately there is another winter event looming on our horizon.  Most of the snow that we received yesterday has already melted but we could see another 1-3 inches tomorrow.  At least, when it happens this time of year, we know that it won’t last very long.  It is depressing however to look out the window and see all white.  I’m still not seeing any sign of my spring flowers. Our 9:45…

One Inch of Snow For Our Fourth Day in April – Mid Michigan

One Inch of Snow For Our Fourth Day in April – Mid Michigan

They told us to expect it, but we didn’t want to believe it.  We’re lucky that it’s only an inch.  Some places up north received a foot.  Regardless, we should be seeing flowers sprouting, not snow.  Yesterday brought heavy rain and our first thunder shower of the year.  There was 0.53 in my gauge this morning and we received a little more snow after that.  It seems to have ended now but strong winds have replaced it.  I think we’re…

No Winter Weather Advisories For Us Yet – Mid Michigan

No Winter Weather Advisories For Us Yet – Mid Michigan

So far there are no winter weather advisories for my area and I’m hoping that it stays that way.  Northern Michigan could receive as much as a foot of snow with lesser amounts just to our north and west.  Local meteorologist, Mark Torregrossa, warns that this scenario could change at any time.  Yesterday was quite nice with light winds but very chilly temps.  Unfortunately, this will be what we can expect over the upcoming week.  There is no real warmup…

Another Snowstorm Coming To Mid Michigan? Maybe!

Another Snowstorm Coming To Mid Michigan? Maybe!

Easter Sunday began with cloudy skies, but the sun came out later in the day.  Today should be quite nice with plenty of sun.  Unfortunately, there is another snowstorm looming in our future.  At this time, it appears that most will remain to our north, but the computer models seem to indicate that this is a changing scenario and could swing further south than what appears at this time.  Winter just won’t give up this year!  This will be one…

Some Sun and A Little Snow for Our Easter Sunday

Some Sun and A Little Snow for Our Easter Sunday

Yes, there was a very thin layer of snow on my deck this morning when I got up, and our temperatures won’t be much warmer than they are right now.  This is much too cold for the first week of April and everyone is more than ready for spring weather to arrive.  At least we have a little sun and that raises the spirits a bit. Our 1:45 AM temp is 34°F (1°C), winds are from the west at 8…

A Wind Advisory for Our Saturday in Mid Michigan

A Wind Advisory for Our Saturday in Mid Michigan

Our weekend is starting out with blustery weather and rain.  It’s going to be a not-so-nice Easter for us.  I was hoping that the forecast would change but no such luck.  What’s worse is that there is no warmup in the foreseeable future.  A wind advisory is in effect with gusts up to 50 mph possible this afternoon.  I’m hoping that there will be no power outages.  The generator is in place just in case. Our 1 PM temperature is…

Not A Bad Good Friday Morning in Mid Michigan

Not A Bad Good Friday Morning in Mid Michigan

Mother Nature is giving us the promise of sunshine today although temperatures will be cool.  That’s better than what we are expecting next week.  Highs are predicted to only be in the 30s all week long and snow is in the forecast once again.  The rain that we received over the past three days has greened  the grass up a little but not enough to start it growing.  We need a good thunderstorm but I don’t see that happening anytime…

Mild, Foggy Weather For Mid Michigan

Mild, Foggy Weather For Mid Michigan

Our Thursday morning is mild but fog is developing at the present time.  We received 0.03″ overnight and showers are expected to continue through the day.  Highs will continue to fall as we go through the weekend and Sunday will feel more like Christmas than Easter.  Our first week of April will be cold with the possibility of some snow.  Spring is having a hard time taking hold this year and I have heard that long-range predictions are calling for…
