More Frigid Air Coming To Mid Michigan
We continue to have an average of an inch of snow cover in the areas where snow remains. About half of the ground is bare however. There is still the chance that we could get more tomorrow or Christmas day, but just a chance. Regardless, there is another polar vortex heading our way and highs will only reach the teens in a few days. The pendulum effect seems to continue as the year reaches it’s end. I have heard various predictions of what the rest of winter will be like, and the conclusion is that we will most likely have a normal Michigan winter. If that’s true, we should have quite a bit of snow over the next few months but time will tell.
Our 9:45 AM temp is 30.2°F (-1°C), the humidity is 87%, and skies are cloudy. Winds are from the NW at 6 mph giving us a wind chill of 26°F (-3°C). The pressure is 29.94 in (1013.6 mb) and steady. Visibility is 7 miles. Yesterday’s high was 34°F (1°C) and the overnight low was 29°F (-2°C). Averages for this date are 32°F / 19°F. The record high for Dec. 22 is 59°F (15°C) set in 1967, and the record low is -9°F (-23°C) set in 1901.
