First Snow Of The Season – Mid Michigan
Yesterday was one of those days where we had all of our seasons mixed into one. We began the day with sun, then the clouds rolled in, and soon it started to rain. At first it was just a shower, then it intensified and strong winds knocked our power out. One gust had to be about 50 mph. The Michigan-Michigan State game was delayed for over an hour because of the storm. Then we had a short time with no rain and the winds calmed down. Soon, the rain started up again and turned to a wintry mix, then to all snow. The ground was too warm for any accumulation, but the winds picked up again and continued throughout the night. Today was supposed to be partly sunny, but so far the sun is a no show.
Our 12 noon temperature is 39°F (4°C), the humidity is 64%, and skies are cloudy. Winds are from the west at 8 mph and visibility is 10 miles. The pressure is 30.29 in (1025.7 mb) and rising. The record high for this date is 86°F (30°C) set in 1953 and the record low is 18°F (-8°C) set in 1974. Yesterday’s high was 57°F (14°C) and the overnight low was 35°F (2°C).
