Excessive Heat, Severe Storms In The Mix For Michigan
Severe storms started popping up in the afternoon yesterday, affecting mostly the western side of the state. We didn’t get any here, just a little rain and distant rolling thunder coming at us from all directions. There were many comments last night on Facebook about the thunder. Storm warnings went up in many areas throughout the afternoon and luckily, my area was spared. We did get one very strong gust of wind about 3:30 AM this morning which woke me up. I thought that we were having a storm but didn’t see any lightning or hear any thunder. There were some branches down in my yard and my bird bath was blown over. That was a bit amazing because it is quite heavy. We had scattered showers off and on but there was only 0:15 inches in my gauge. I’m seeing on CoCoRahs that some areas got over 2 inches. There is a chance that we could see more storms today and our excessive heat warning continued until 8 PM tonight.
Our 12:30 PM temperature is 86°F (30°C), the humidity is 57%, and the dew point is 69°F (21°C). Winds are from the SW at 9 mph, gusting to 18 mph. The pressure is 29.83 in (1010.2 mb) and falling.
