No Severe Weather For My Area

No Severe Weather For My Area

Although skies became very dark, and a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for us, it never happened.  Unfortunately, other’s weren’t as lucky.  Ludington reported baseball size hail and another area near Bay City reported ping pong size hail.  There was a lot of wind damage in the Bay City area which the weather service said was caused by a micro burst.  There were a few tornado warnings issued throughout the state, but none formed.   That’s always a good thing.  Today…

Severe Thunderstorm Warning For Mid Michigan

Severe Thunderstorm Warning For Mid Michigan

After a sunny, lovely morning, our skies have become dark and strong thunderstorms have been moving across the state since about 4 PM.  We haven’t received anything yet but a few sprinkles so far.  Looking at the radar, it doesn’t seem to me that what’s coming our way is anything but heavy rain.  Some areas affected so far have reported hail as large as baseballs.  I’m also hearing of trees down and power outages in the mid portions of the…

A Pleasant Labor Day Weekend

A Pleasant Labor Day Weekend

Today has been gorgeous with mostly clear skies, a nice breeze, and comfortable temps.  This weather will continue overnight, but changes are coming tomorrow.  Forecasts are calling for strong thunderstorms and heavy rain late tomorrow until around midnight.  Severe weather is a real possibility.  We have large branches laying in our yard from the storms last Saturday when we got almost 2 inches of rain.  The extended forecast for September looks very nice with temps in the 80s much of…

Windy And Warm In Mid Michigan

Windy And Warm In Mid Michigan

Today has been sunny and quite warm.  Highs near 80°F were forcasted and that’s what we have.  The humidity is quite low making for a beautiful early September day.   Winds are quite brisk but it feels good.  We did receive a little rain overnight, 0.07″ in my gauge, but it wasn’t enough to water anything.  I guess that’s what I’ll be doing tonight.  This has been one of the greenest Augusts that I can ever remember.  Usually the grass is…

Cooler Weather For Michigan

Cooler Weather For Michigan

Our weather has taken a turn to less humid and cooler.  For people like me, it’s a blessing.  We did receive a few sprinkles overnight and there is even one lightning strike showing on my weather station.  We aren’t expecting much rain today and that’s good for those who want to be outdoors for the holiday weekend.  We came home from the campground yesterday and the weather was absolutely beautiful.  Highs were only in the mid 70s and the humidity…

Our Final Day In Northern Michigan

Our Final Day In Northern Michigan

Yesterday we took a drive across the Mackinaw Bridge and it may be our last for quite a while.  This will be our final year camping.  I’ll certainly miss our time spent up here in northern Michigan but as they say, all good things must come to an end.  We have sold our trailer but will keep possession of it through next month.  This week has been beautiful here.  We’ve had clear skies and the hot, oppressive temperatures are gone. …

Feels Like Fall In Northern Michigan

Feels Like Fall In Northern Michigan

When we came up on Friday, temperatures were in the mid 70s.  Then the weekend brought hot, very humid temperatures and storms.  We had one pass Saturday which brought a lot of wind and torrential rain.  The roads in our campground were like rivers, and we had to walk through 4 inches of water get get from our truck to the trailer.  I was hearing of some wind damage in other parts of northern Michigan but we lucked out.  Since…
