Above Average Temps And Plenty Of Sun For Mid Michigan

Above Average Temps And Plenty Of Sun For Mid Michigan

With the warm temps over the past 2 days, our snow cover has now dwindled to about 10%.  With the rain expected tonight and tomorrow, that will probably take care of the rest of it.  It feels like a spring day out there but clouds are are starting to move it.  Substantial rainfall is expected over the next 24 hours but temperatures are expected to remain mild into the weekend.  This was supposed to be a harsh winter for us; …

Mild But Not Much Sun in Mid Michigan

Mild But Not Much Sun in Mid Michigan

Although our temperatures have been above the freezing mark, the snow isn’t melting very fast.  We still have about 2 inches of snow pack remaining, and it had a light layer of ice over it this morning.  Highs today should make it into the mid 40s, then the winds will pick up and it will be quite blustery this afternoon.  There are gale warnings up for Saginaw Bay until 4 pm.  I’m glad that I don’t have to go anywhere…

A Pleasant Day For Mid Michigan

A Pleasant Day For Mid Michigan

Our morning began with clouds and chilly temps.  But now the sun is out and temps are rising above the freezing mark.  Winds are quite light, so it’s very nice out there.  We lost a little snow yesterday and our snow pack is now about 3 inches.  Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow, so I expect that much more will be gone by tomorrow night.  It’s always a joy to have a sunny day this time of year. Our…

Some Warmer Weather Ahead – Mid Michigan

Some Warmer Weather Ahead – Mid Michigan

After a very chilly Friday, our weather has taken a welcome turn for the better.  Temps were on the rise all day yesterday, but strong winds made it quite uncomfortable.  Today will be warmer and we should lose more of our snow.  Our snow pack is now down to 3 inches, so it is slowly melting away.  There is more warm weather on the horizon, so I expect most of the snow to be gone by the end of next…

An End In Sight For This Frigid Weather – Mid Michigan

An End In Sight For This Frigid Weather – Mid Michigan

Yesterday was very cold and the wind chill made it worse.   Temperatures were at their lowest just before midnight, then they began to rise shortly after and continued all night.  We will see this continue all day with our high for the day happening around sunset.  The remainder of the week will see temps rising to above average once again, and I hope that they remain there for a while.  I just hope that this warmup doesn’t bring severe weather…

Very Cold But Sunny For Our Friday – Mid Michigan

Very Cold But Sunny For Our Friday – Mid Michigan

We have mostly clear skies and plenty of sun, but it certainly doesn’t feel like it.   Highs won’t make it out of the teens today and the wind chill makes it even worse.  Thankfully, this is the only day that we’ll have to deal with it because tomorrow will be much warmer.  What’s even better is that the warm air is expected to linger a while.  So, I guess we can deal with one day of frigid. Our 1:30 PM…

Happy Groundhog Day From Mid Michigan

Happy Groundhog Day From Mid Michigan

Although the PA groundhog, Phil, is predicting more winter ahead, NOAA is saying something else.  My picture shows NOAA’s recent temperature predictions for almost half of February and it is showing a significant warmup for the eastern half of the US.  So who will be right?  Science or rodent?  I guess that time will tell.  As for me, I’m hoping that NOAA is correct.  Our high today should make it to the freezing mark, and hopefully, melt some of the…

A Sunny Day But Bitterly Cold – Mid Michigan

A Sunny Day But Bitterly Cold – Mid Michigan

With highs today only in the teens, we’ll take all the sun we can get.  It does seem to be a little warmer and my deck is melting quite nicely where the sun is shining.  Our snow pack remains at 5.5 inches, and none of it is going anywhere until possibly tomorrow.  It is expected to be considerably warmer, but only for one day.  But better days are on the horizon for the weekend.  At least we aren’t getting the…
