Flooding Rain In Mid Michigan
Yesterday was one of the stormiest days that we have had in a long time. The rain began in the afternoon and was light from the beginning; later, when the storms, which produced tornadoes in Chicago reached us, the sky really opened up. The heavy rain began around 9 PM and didn’t stop until after 11:30 PM. There was 3.08″ in my rain gauge this morning, and many other areas not too far from me, recorded over 4″. That’s the most rain that I’ve seen fall here since I became a CoCoRahs volunteer almost 10 years ago. My county in under a flood warning, and I’m surprised that there isn’t more standing water in my yard. There were tornado warnings and watches posted last evening but they didn’t include my area. I haven’t heard any storm damage reports yet today.
