I have lived in Michigan all of my life and became very interested in the weather after the 1953 Flint tornado. This was one of the few EF5 tornadoes in our state's history (since records have been kept). Although we are not strangers to severe storms in Michigan, EF5 tornadoes are very rare. I live in an area where we rarely get a good thunderstorm, in fact, we haven't had one all summer. When I lived down by Detroit, they were frequent during the spring and summer months. I love experiencing the four seasons here in Michigan and I wouldn't live anywhere else.
Rain And Fog . . . .

Rain And Fog . . . .

We have rain, sometimes heavy, along with fog today. This could last most of the day and temperatures are much cooler than yesterday.  At least we’re getting rain and not snow.  Temperatures will rebound tomorrow with highs expected near 60°F.  These warm temps should remain most of this week. Our 3 PM temperature is 40°F, the humidity is 92%, and winds are from the NE at 3-6 mph.  The pressure is 29.87 in and falling.  The dew point is 38°F…

Really Feels Like Spring . . . . .

Really Feels Like Spring . . . . .

c Today is wonderful!!.  Temps are in the 50s and there is hardly any wind.  For early March, it can’t be beat.  Skies have been clear this morning, but light clouds have moved in for the afternoon; but not enough to block the sun.  This entire week will have above average temperatures, so we’ll enjoy while it lasts. Our 4 PM temperature is 54°F, the humidity is 48%, and winds are from the SE at 4-6 mph.  The pressure is…

Warmer Weather Coming Soon . . . .

Warmer Weather Coming Soon . . . .

Today begins a significant warmup with highs in the 60s possible by the weekend.  Today is still on the chilly side, and most of our snow is gone except for s few isolated places.  We won’t see much sun over the next several days, and we could see some light rain this afternoon. Our 1:30 PM temperature is 44°F, the humidity is 57% and skies are overcast.  Winds are from the east at 2-5 mph and the pressure is 29.98…

Another Beautiful Day . . . .

Another Beautiful Day . . . .

Today begins a significant warmup for us and will continue through next weekend.  In fact, we could see record breaking high temperatures on Friday and Saturday.  Unfortunately, it could also bring severe storms to areas of the midwest and south.  Today will bring highs above freezing and that should melt quite a bit of our snow.  We did lose a little yesterday because the sun was out but temperatures never reached above freezing. Our 1:45 PM temperature is 32°F, the…

Plenty Of Sun But Chilly . . . .

Plenty Of Sun But Chilly . . . .

Yesterday began with clear skies, then clouds and snow by evening.  We had another two inches on the ground this morning and temperatures won’t quite make it to the freezing mark.  There is thawing, however, with the clear skies that we have today.  We have a significant warmup coming by weeks end and we could see highs in the 60s.  Forty degree weather will be here from Tuesday on. Our 3:30 PM temperature is 23°F, the humidity is 46%, and…

Another “Teaser” Day . . . .

Another “Teaser” Day . . . .

Yesterday was one where Mother Nature is telling us that winter is coming to an end, but not just yet.  This morning still feels spring-like but it won’t last long.  In fact, snow is in the forecast for this afternoon and tonight.  At least, this time of year, you know that it won’t last long. Our 10AM temperature is 33°F, the humidity is 56%, and skies are mostly clear.  Winds are from the north at 2-9 mph and the pressure…

We lost quite a bit of snow yesterday and today, even though temperatures weren’t that warm.  With the sun out, it makes a difference.  We are supposed to have a substantial warmup next week, so the snow that is here now will probably be gone.  By the first of March, most of us are tired of it anyway. Our 3:30 PM temperature is 33°F, the humidity is 47%, and skies are partly cloudy.  Winds are from the south at 4-11…

Some Sun, Some Clouds . . . . .

Some Sun, Some Clouds . . . . .

Our morning temps rose slightly above freezing, but now are holding in the low 30s.  What was shoveled on the deck is melting a little, and some sun is showing though breaks in the clouds.  We had a little snow a while ago, but not enough to really matter.  There is some warmer air coming this weekend and into next week.  So that’s something we can look forward to. Our 2:15 PM temperature is 30°F, the humidity is 67%, and…

A Sun And Cloud Mix . . . . .

A Sun And Cloud Mix . . . . .

Yesterday brought early snow showers, then partial clearing in the afternoon.  There was no new snow accumulation, and we continue to have about an inch of snow cover at this time.  Today began with sun but now clouds have taken over and we do have the possibility of a few more snow showers.  Tomorrow is expected to bring more snow and we could see an addition to our snow cover amounts. Our 4:30 PM temperature is 32°F, the humidity is…

Another Snowy Day . . . .

Another Snowy Day . . . .

What began as rain late yesterday, turned to all snow by this morning.  There was about an inch on the deck, and it has continued snowing since then.  I estimate that we have about 2 inches and still coming down.  Temps won’t warm up much through the week until Friday.  Then we should be back in the 40s again. Our 2:30 PM temperature is 32°F, the humidity is 80%, and skies are cloudy with moderate snow falling.  Winds are from…
