I have lived in Michigan all of my life and became very interested in the weather after the 1953 Flint tornado. This was one of the few EF5 tornadoes in our state's history (since records have been kept). Although we are not strangers to severe storms in Michigan, EF5 tornadoes are very rare. I live in an area where we rarely get a good thunderstorm, in fact, we haven't had one all summer. When I lived down by Detroit, they were frequent during the spring and summer months. I love experiencing the four seasons here in Michigan and I wouldn't live anywhere else.

Our 2 PM temperature is 80°F, the humidity is 84%, and skies are overcast.  Winds are…

The Heat Has Returned . . . .

The Heat Has Returned . . . .

Today is the beginning of meteorological autumn. After a rainy past two days, today is hot and dry once again.  The humidity and dew points are both high, so being outdoors is very uncomfortable.  We received little over half an inch of rain the past two days.  I’m hoping that this will be the last of our 90 degree weather.  The humming birds have been very active lately, so I think that their migration time is very near.  I’m no…

It has been a pleasant, comfortable few days for us.  Temperatures have been in the 70s, and lows at night cool enough to have the windows open.  I like not having the the AC on constantly.  Our morning was sunny but now it is mostly cloudy and that should keep  the temperatures from rising too high. Our 3:45 PM temp is 76°F, the humidity is 52% and winds are calm.  There is barely a breeze.  The pressure is 30.14 in…

A Lovely August Day . . . . .

A Lovely August Day . . . . .

Today has been beautiful but we could see some heavy weather later today.  Thunderstorms are in the forecast and some reaching severe are not out of the question.   We’ve been very lucky so far this year, and prayers go out for the folks battling those horrific floods in the states to our south.  I wish that these heavy rains would go to where the wildfires are. Our 5:15 PM temperature is 79°F, the humidity is 54% and skies are partly…
