We woke this morning to a trace of snow on our deck, and another brief snow shower came shortly after. Now the sun is out. Talk about bipolar weather! I doubt that out temps today will make it out of the 30s but at least this cold spell will be short lived. Sunday sounds like it will be the pick day of our week unless that changes. That’s been happening a lot lately. Right now (9:45 AM) our temp is…
Yesterday began with dry, sun-filtered weather but it wasn’t long before the clouds moved in and we had rain, even mixed with snow at times, the remainder of our day. We weren’t supposed to get that much rain but there was 0.42″ in my gauge. This morning is damp, cool and foggy. I don’t think that we will see much sun if any today. Temperatures will remain steady. This was supposed to be our dry week and of course, Mother…
This morning has been dry but there is rain on the way for this afternoon. We could get up to quarter of an inch, so there goes our dry week which was forecasted. Oh well, at least it’s rain and not snow. Our truck needs a bath so bad and it just won’t stop raining. The road nicely dries up and then more rain. At least our temperatures are remaining at an average level for a change. Our 10:45 AM…
Our temperatures are expected to moderate over the next few days with normal to above normal highs by the weekend. We really aren’t expecting much in the way of precipitation either, so that’s a good thing. April is just around the corner and I’m hoping that it’s more seasonable that it was last year. I think that most are tired of this bi-polar weather. Our 9:15 AM temperature is 29°F (-2°C), the humidity is 92% and the pressure is 30.31…
After the storms of last Thursday, life goes on as a large group of people with chain saws, trucks and other equipment are there helping to clean up the mess. The final assessment of these storms is that there were four tornadoes total, two here in Shiawassee County and two in Genesee County. They were all EF0s except for the one that hit closest to us. That was rated as an EF2. The upcoming week is looking to be quite…
Photo of 3/14/19 tornado taken near Durand, Mi There are still a lot of road closures in the Durand area and authorities are warning people to stay away from the affected areas. There appears to be much more damage than what I first thought. There were two tornadoes that went through our county. The first was an EF0, and the second is now claimed to be an EF2. That’s the one that hit Vernon, a small village five miles…
Yesterday was supposed to be our beautiful warm, spring-like day with highs in the 60s and warm sun. But I’ve lived in Michigan long enough to know that having weather like that this early in the year can be dangerous. I was at the hospital most of the day having a heart cath done, and my nurse and I were talking about this exact thing happening. When I was released, my husband, son and I stopped for dinner at a…
Tomorrow, we could see highs near 70° but that also brings the possibility of severe weather. Unfortunately, that’s the price that we must pay for wonderful spring warmth that comes early in Michigan. It started raining around 8:30 this morning and it is expected to continue through most of the day. It looks like the forecast for tomorrow has changed a bit with some sun possible late in the afternoon. Next week, temperatures will return to normal levels. Our 10…
Today is expected to be a beautiful day here in Michigan with sunny skies, light winds, and highs in the low to mid 40s. We have so much ice in the yard that it’s hazardous to walk out there, and I’m hoping that it finally melts over the next few days. Our forecast is calling for highs in the upper 60s to possibly 70° on Thursday, so that should finally take care of our remaining snow/ice. Our 9:45 AM temp…
Looking out the window this morning, it looks absolutely lovely. But when you stick your had out, there is a brisk wind which takes away some of the glory. Regardless, we’ll take the sun. Yesterday was cloudy and very windy and I didn’t venture out at all. There was a wind advisory most of the day but the winds didn’t calm down much after the advisory expired. We lost most of our snow and what remains will be gone by…
