The Drought is Over – Mid Michigan

As we frequently experience, our weather shifts from one extreme to another.  We sustained drought conditions through the month of September.  Now we are under flood watches and warnings.  As much as 5 inches of rain fell in southern Michigan yesterday, and showers and thunderstorms continue, mainly south of us.  We have received 2.09″ since 7:30 AM yesterday with most falling overnight.  The rain has stopped for now and radar is showing that we could still get more light rain before it is finished.  The big issue today will be the winds, and they are already picking up.  A wind advisory is in effect until 8 PM tonight.

Our 8:45 AM temp is 64°F (17°C), the humidity is 92%, and winds are from the SSW at 12 mph.  Skies are mostly cloudy and visibility is 10 miles.  The pressure is 29.64 in (1003.4 mb) and rising.  The dew point is 62°F  (17°C).  Yesterday’s high was 66°F (19°C) and the overnight low as 60°F (16°C).  The record high for Oct. 14 is 83°F (28°C) set in 1975, and the record low is 24°F (-4°C) set in 1937.  Averages are 61°F / 40°F.

  1. I spoke with Josh H Saturday night for about 3 hours. He is such a smart, interesting person. And very knowledgeable about the computer and weather technology, among many other things. He is busy right now, and is really having a fight with his physical problems, particularly his epilepsy and resulting seizures and also lyme disease. It is taking a lot out of him. He is busy with those battles now, plus his business and his weather station and closing down his outdoor duties for the winter. He has a hard time with wordpress, and so far is not that impressed with weather together. I told Nathan and asked that he call him this week to discuss Josh’s computer issues with the site and wordpress. He is going to call him when he gets a free moment sometime this week. His email is stormtracker24@verizon.net (he has problems with verizon email also) and his phone number is 410-557-7052. I am sure he would like to hear from you. I wanted to keep this private between you, Patricia and Nathan.
