The past two days have been extremely wet with a total of 1.84″of rain  since Monday.  After a very dry September, Mother Nature decided to remedy the rain deficit all at once.  The Upper Peninsula had hurricane force winds yesterday with waves well over 20 feet.  This weather is typical of November in northern Michigan, but November isn’t even here yet.  My  brother and sister in law are heading back to Florida today from the cabins in Cheboygan, and they weren’t spared the wrath of this storm.  There is so much debris that has washed up on their beach with rocks.  The cleanup will be awaiting them in May when they return.  It seems that when we are blessed with fantastic, out-of-season weather, we have to pay for it later.  They have a weather station at the cabins, and they recorded 4 inches of rain since Sunday, and that didn’t include yesterday.  Their weather station had been packed away by then.

Our 9:30 AM temperature is 41.5°F (5°C), the humidity is 88%, and skies are cloudy with a few breaks in the clouds.  Winds are from the WSW at 6 mph, and the pressure is 29.68 in (1004.8 mb) and rising.   Visibility is 10 miles.  Yesterday’s high was 54°F (12°C), and the overnight low was 40°F (4°C).  The record high for Oct. 24 is 80°F (27°C) set in 1963, and the record low is 22°F (-6°C) set in 1981.  Averages for this date are 56°F / 39°F.
