First Frost of the Season – Mid Michigan
We were warned by a local meteorologist that we could get a frost last night, and it did indeed happen. There were no warnings or advisories posted since NOAA figured that the growing season is over. I do still have a few flowers alive in my garden and I’m not sure if they will survive this morning’s frost. I guess I’ll know soon. At any rate, I didn’t do anything to protect them since it is so late in the season. Most have quit blooming anyway and they must have decided that it’s time. Today won’t be very warm although we should see sun most of the day. Yesterday was partly cloudy, but the sun that we did see didn’t warm it up any, especially with the cold winds.
Our 9 AM temperature is 32°F (0°C), the humidity is 89%, and the pressure is 29.92 in (1012.9 mb) and rising. Winds are calm and visibility is 7 miles. The dew point is 31°F (0°C) and skies are clear. Yesterday’s high was 51°F (11°C) and the overnight low was 29°F (-2°C). The average temps for this date are 56°F / 38°F. The record high for Oct. 25 is 79°F (26°C) set in 1963, and the record low is 18°F (-8°C) set in 1960.
