Another Nice Day In Mid Michigan

Another Nice Day In Mid Michigan

We are expecting dry weather for the next week or so, but with it comes the heat.  There will be a dome of hot air over most of the central US and it is expected to last a while.  What’s unusual is a hurricane heading for the coast of California from Mexico.  Although it isn’t expected to remain a hurricane by the time it reaches Cali, it will bring a massive amount of rain which will add to their previous…

A Pleasant Day Following The Rain – Mid Michigan

A Pleasant Day Following The Rain – Mid Michigan

We had three storms yesterday.  The first, and longest, happened just after noon.  Then another developed just to our west, and moved over us about 5 pm.  The last one, also was a popup, and that hit around 8 pm.  Between each storm, we had some sun, so the day was quite pleasant.  We received a little over an inch of rain from all of them together.  Today is cool and dry with plenty of sun.  It is quite breezy…

Rain To Start Our Thursday – Mid Michigan

Rain To Start Our Thursday – Mid Michigan

We have a line of thunderstorms approaching from the west.  They aren’t expected to be severe, just giving us another good amount of rain.  We should see partly cloudy skies later, so the day isn’t expected to be a total washout  Temperatures will be cool with highs only expected in the low to mid 70s.  I’m hearing some distant thunder so I suspect that it will be raining by the time I finish this blog. Our 11:15 AM temperature is…

More Seasonable Weather – Mid Michigan

The rain finally ended and we have a typical Michigan summer day.  Temperatures are right where they should be and the humidity is at a comfortable level.  Nothing at all to complain about.  I’m hearing that we could be in for more severe storms tomorrow but we’ll have to wait and see on that one. Our 4:30 PM temperature is 80°F, the humidity is 51%, and winds are from the SW at 3-7 mph.  The dew point is 56F and…

Heavy Overnight Rain, Followed By A Little Sun – Mid Michigan

Heavy Overnight Rain, Followed By A Little Sun – Mid Michigan

The rain began late yesterday afternoon, then became heavy overnight.  There was 1.37″ in my rain gauge this morning, and rain continued today until early afternoon.  A flood watch is in effect.  Radar is still showing more but it’s hard to tell which way it is moving.  The sun is trying to make an appearance but having a hard time.  I think most of the rain is over and tomorrow is expected to be a lot brighter. Our 3 PM…

Another Cool Day For Mid Michigan

Another Cool Day For Mid Michigan

Our cooler weather continues for the next few days before the next hot spell moves in.  Personally, I love this weather.  It’s perfect as far as I’m concerned.  One can go outdoors and enjoy it without getting overheated.  Unfortunately, rain always seem to come with it, and we’ve had plenty of that lately.  The rain isn’t supposed to arrive until this afternoon and continue until early tomorrow. Our 10:30 AM temperature is 68°F (20°C), the humidity is 81%, and winds…

Cooler Temperatures For Our Sunday – Mid Michigan

Cooler Temperatures For Our Sunday – Mid Michigan

We had a few quicky showers early yesterday which left 0.03″ in my rain gauge.  It rained quite hard but only lasted a few minutes.  Other than that, our Saturday was mostly sunny and nice.  Today will bring a mix of sun and clouds but no rain is expected.  We should also be able to give the AC a rest. Our 10:30 AM temperature is 69°F (21°C), the humidity is 73%, and winds are from the NW at 1-6 mph. …

Thunderstorms And A Tornado – Mid Michigan

Thunderstorms And A Tornado – Mid Michigan

Although we had no severe weather yesterday, we did have a few thunderstorms that passed over giving us 0.45″ of rainfall.  Other areas weren’t as lucky.  Perry, a small town about 15 miles to our southwest, was hit by a tornado about 8:30 last evening.  What was ironic is that the tornado hit their tornado siren, so there was so warning.  It is still too early to estimate the damage and it’s rating, but there are no reported injuries or…

Storms On The Way For Mid Michigan

Storms On The Way For Mid Michigan

Right now, the storms are remaining well to our north, but NOAA is giving us a 70% chance for them to reach our area later this afternoon.  Some could be heavy with small hail and strong winds, but nothing severe is really expected. Right now it is quite pleasant and temps are only in the mid 70s.  Highs should only reach the upper 70s to near 80°F. Our 1:15 PM temperature is 75°F (24°C), the humidity is 59%, and skies…

A Chance For Rain – Mid Michigan

Our forecast is calling for only a slight chance of rain, but looking at the sky, it looks like some storms may be brewing.  It won’t be as warm today and the humidity isn’t as high.  So far it’s been mostly sunny and pleasant.  Not a bad day at all.
