We rose this morning to a world of white but it didn’t last long.  There was half an inch of new snow on the deck, but by the time we returned home from church, it was gone.  Can’t say that I’m disappointed.  Our extended forecast is calling for large amounts of rain heading our way on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week.  Projected amounts are for 3+ inches possible.  That should take care of the remainder of the snow but flooding will be the alternative.  Tuesday could see a high of 62°F, and with thunderstorms in the forecast, that could also mean the possibility of severe weather.  The are no severe storms in the forecast at this time but experience brings that to mind for me.  That’s always a possibility with abnormally warm weather this time of year.

Our  3 pm temperature is 38°F (3°C), winds are from the SW at 8 mph and the wind chill is 32°F (0°C).  Skies are mostly cloudy.   The dew point is 25°C (-4°C) and the pressure is 30.22 in (1023.7 mb) and steady.  The humidity is 5%.  Melted precip from last night was 0.08″.  Sunrise was at 7:31 am and sunset will be at 6:12 pm.  Yesterday’s high was 33°F (1°C) and the overnight low was 28°F (-2°C).  The record high for Feb. 17 is 54°F  set in 1911, and the record low is -20°F set in 1979.
