Our Governor has issued a state of emergency for the state because of the dangerous wind chills and temperatures for tomorrow. I really don’t know what that will entail, but at any rate, no one should be out tomorrow that doesn’t have to be. I have heard that wind chills could be as low as -40°F with highs only around zero. So far, we have a very fine but relatively heavy snow falling at this time. It’s almost like powder. With the winds and low temperatures, it is not a good day to be out and about. Everything is closed including most city and county offices. We are already being warned about what’s ahead for us next week. In fact, Wednesday may not even see highs much above zero,. My son, who lives in the Detroit area, reported very icy, slippery conditions when he had to leave for work early this morning. I’m not sure what it was like here because my deck was only wet and the snow was very slushy when I got up at 8 AM. It was -14°F when I got up this morning on my thermometer. Lansing was reporting -18 as were some other cities. This is the coldest morning that I can remember in quite a while.
