Today will really feel like winter with the high only around 30° and brisk winds.  The snow that we have will most likely remain in place through this week with no warm ups expected anytime soon.  We received a total of 5 inches from yesterday’s storm, and the temperatures rose high enough to clear the roads.  Today should be relatively quiet with the possibilities of snow showers this afternoon.  No additional accumulations are expected. I just listened to the latest extended forecast for the reminder of this winter season and it doesn’t sound good for winter haters.  Previous forecasts of a mild winter have now been replaced with possible record low temps and snow amounts.  El Nino seems to be weakening, totally changing the forecast from previously.  Our winter storm has brought 3.5 inches of snow snow so far but it is expected to continue until 3 PM.  They are still estimating that we…

A winter weather advisory has been issued for my area with winter storm warnings in effect for counties to our north and west.  This could be our first BIG winter storm of the season and it isn’t even winter yet.  Expected accumulations vary depending on the source.  NOAA is saying 3-6 inches and the Weather Channel says 6-8.  Those amounts are higher than what they said yesterday so apparently the storm direction will be heading more in our direction.  It…

Yesterday was very pleasant with sun and temps rising above average for a change.  Some places even hit 50°F, something we haven’t seen for awhile.  Unfortunately, with the warmer temps came rain.  It wasn’t much but just enough to make the road muddy.  I’m hearing talk of a possible snow storm on Monday, which according to one of our local forecasters, could give us about 3-2 inches of new snow.  I can’t ever remember getting this much snow in November. …

Today will be the coldest day that we have for awhile with highs not even reaching the freezing mark.  At least we aren’t expecting any weather which will cause slippery driving conditions.  The extended  forecast is calling for more normal temperatures over the next week.  Yesterday felt like a day in January and there won’t be much improvement today. We received about 2.5 inches of snow overnight and everything is covered in heavy, wet snow.  I have to admit, it’s beautiful.  We still have flurries happening although we’re aren’t expecting much more in terms of accumulations.  Our temperatures will continue to remain much below average for the next week, and I’m hoping for a substantial warm-up sometime soon.
