I just read yesterday that El Nina is strengthening, and that a milder winter will probably happen for us here in the north. If so, I wish it would happen soon. The temperatures that we have been having are much too cold for this time of year. We received an inch of snow overnight, so this morning seem bright. The sun has been peaking out occasionally, and that’s a welcome sight. I hope we see much more of it today….
With our normal temperature for this date in the upper 40s, we aren’t seeing anything close to that, and no real warmups are in the forecast anytime soon. We have another cloudy day but it seems brighter than what it has been. Highs today will remain in the 30s and we could see a little sun later on. We received about 1.5 inches of snow total yesterday but by mid day, it was gone. Another quarter inch fell overnight and that is sticking so far. On the positive side, it brightens up the landscape and it doesn’t seem so dark and dreary. When I got up this morning, we had about half and inch of snow cover, now it’s about 1 to 1.5 inches. It is heavy and wet so I’m happy that it isn’t more than that, however it is still coming down. We could see a couple inches of snowfall this weekend. Some areas of the U.P. already have 5-6 inches on the ground, and although we aren’t expecting that much here, our world could be very white Saturday and Sunday. Yesterday was my birthday, and I spent most of it in the hospital , and I wasn’t even working. I went in early yesterday morning with chest pain, and my husband went in later with severe vertigo (dizziness). But no serious issues were found so all is well. This past October has been one of the wettest that I can remember. There were very few days that we didn’t get some rain and even fewer where we saw the sun. I am hoping that November will be better but it certainly is not starting out that way. Out of the next 6 days, rain is in the forecast 3 days, and only 1 sunny day which is tomorrow.
