Mid Michigan Weather

Yesterday was wet and chilly with strong winds most of the day.  Today will at least produce some sunlight even though windy conditions will prevail.  High temperatures will remain in the low 70s most of the week and that’s just fine with me.  We received just under a quarter inch of rain yesterday and today should remain dry. I woke to the sound of raindrops this morning and there was 0.14″ in my gauge at 8:15 AM and an additional 0.07″ has fallen since then.  It seems to have stopped for now.  The possibility of more rain remains in the forecast for today and highs will be in the low 70s.  We aren’t expected to see much sun  but tomorrow should be brighter. Temperatures in the 90s are just too hot for my liking and I’m happy to  see the cooler weather.  Highs today will only reach the mid 60s and that’s lovely as far as I’m concerned.   I usually have my garden in by now but haven’t even started it yet.  I’ve had some physical issues plus working a lot of hours at the hospital, and I just haven’t been up to it.  These 90°F temps haven’t helped any either.  I’m hoping…

Alberto wasn’t too impressive as he passed over my area.  A severe TS warning was issued for our county, but what we got was quite benign.  There were a few lightning flashes and thunder which didn’t seem too close.  Gusty winds lasted about 5 minutes and the first band of rain only brought 0.10″.  The second band brought more rain but no thunder.  That happened around midnight.  In all, we received 0.27″ of rain from this storm. This morning is tranquil  but that is expected to change as the day goes on.  The remnants of Tropical Storm Alberto will be moving in over us late today and early tomorrow.  We aren’t expecting anything severe but we could see some thunderstorms and heavy rains with them.  We had a beautiful full moon the past two nights and we sat out and enjoyed it.  Temperatures were very warm and the mosquitoes haven’t been too bad yet.  With all the…

Yesterday was a beautiful day but  a rogue thunderstorm moved in shortly after 10 PM last night.  It was a small cell which came from the NNW dumping 1.19 inches on us  along with a lot of lightning.  We were under a severe thunderstorm warning for about half and hour but there was no strong wind or hail.  The lightning was frequent but no strikes close by.  The Saginaw and Midland areas reported some damage but the storm mellowed quite…

After a very warm Thursday, today is expected to be even warmer with highs in the upper 80s.  The past two days have been wonderful with clear skies and low humidity.  A change will be coming with thunderstorms in the forecast for the weekend, however it won’t be a total washout and temperatures will remain very warm.
