The past two days have been extremely wet with a total of 1.84″of rain  since Monday.  After a very dry September, Mother Nature decided to remedy the rain deficit all at once.  The Upper Peninsula had hurricane force winds yesterday with waves well over 20 feet.  This weather is typical of November in northern Michigan, but November isn’t even here yet.  My  brother and sister in law are heading back to Florida today from the cabins in Cheboygan, and they…

A Wet Day In Store For Most of Michigan

A Wet Day In Store For Most of Michigan

Today is beginning with very mild temperatures and mostly cloudy skies.  There is heavy rain showing on radar but it hasn’t reached us as yet.  Many areas of the state are under flood watches and warnings in anticipation of what is coming, and some areas have already received an inch of rain.  The showers are training from the south and slowly moving to the east.  My area is expecting up to 2 inches of rain by the time it is…

Our Wonderful Weather Is Coming To An End – Mid Michigan

Our Wonderful Weather Is Coming To An End – Mid Michigan

Tonight will bring the leading edge of a cold front which will take our temperatures to a normal range by mid week.  Today will still be wonderful but by Wednesday, it will be down right cold.  But what can I say?  September and this month have been exceptional here in Michigan.  We knew that it couldn’t last forever and we can look forward to a normal winter or so they are telling us.  Plenty of snow is in the forecast. …

Gorgeous Weather Continues in Mid Michigan

Gorgeous Weather Continues in Mid Michigan

Yesterday’s weather was outstanding, and today should be very similar.  It’s going to be hard to part with this autumn’s weather when normalcy finally reaches us.  I’m seeing that the extended forecast is no longer calling for highs only in the 40s, so maybe it won’t be quite as cold as originally thought.  Bow hunting season is here and I suppose that the hunters would appreciated cooler weather.  As for me, I’m just thankful for what we have had. Our…

Summer-Like Weather For Our Weekend – Mid Michigan

Summer-Like Weather For Our Weekend – Mid Michigan

We have three days of temperatures in the 70s to look forward to before more cold air moves in on us.  We could see our first frost next week with highs only in the 40s expected by mid week.  But we’ll enjoy mid 70s through our weekend.  I took my doggies for a walk back in the fields yesterday and they seemed to enjoy it immensely.  Yesterday was gorgeous but a bit on the breezy side.  You just can’t get…

Enjoying Our Above-Normal Temps While They Last – Mid Michigan

Enjoying Our Above-Normal Temps While They Last – Mid Michigan

If one doesn’t mind the wind, we could say that this is fantastic weather.  Apparently, we can expect this for the remainder of the week.  There is cold air moving our way for next week, and the pendulum will swing the other way bringing us below-normal temps for a few days.  Highs will only be in the 40s if the predictions are correct.  That will be a shock to the system for sure.  LaNina will be controlling our weather for…

Another Round of Above-Normal Temps for Mid Michigan

Another Round of Above-Normal Temps for Mid Michigan

After all of the rain that we received over the past week, I noticed that our colors have become more vibrant and it is looking more normal for mid October.  But what isn’t normal is that our highs will once again be in the mid 60s to low 70s this week.  Unfortunately coming with it will be more strong winds.  This has been a fantastic autumn for us, unlike any that I can remember.  I know that it will come…

Much Cooler Temperatures With the Rain Ending – Mid Michigan

Much Cooler Temperatures With the Rain Ending – Mid Michigan

Since last Wednesday, we received a total of 3.38″ of rain.  I think that would put an end to the rain deficit.  This morning is starting out with mostly cloudy skies but I can see clearing coming from the west.   Yesterday only brought us an additions 0.19″ of rain but temperatures were dropping all day, so our high was early in the morning.  Winds were the issue with gusts reaching 40 mph at times.  I haven’t heard of any power…

The Drought is Over – Mid Michigan

The Drought is Over – Mid Michigan

As we frequently experience, our weather shifts from one extreme to another.  We sustained drought conditions through the month of September.  Now we are under flood watches and warnings.  As much as 5 inches of rain fell in southern Michigan yesterday, and showers and thunderstorms continue, mainly south of us.  We have received 2.09″ since 7:30 AM yesterday with most falling overnight.  The rain has stopped for now and radar is showing that we could still get more light rain…

Another Dark, Cloudy, Cool Day – Mid Michigan

Another Dark, Cloudy, Cool Day – Mid Michigan

Well, I would think that our drought is over with all of the rain that we have received the past week, and another round expected tomorrow.  This morning is dreary although not raining presently.  We had rain almost all day Thursday and temps never made it to 60°F like what was predicted.  Today is expected to reach the upper 60s so we’ll just have to wait and see if it happens. Our 8:45 AM temp is 56°F (13°C), the humidity…
