Mid Michigan Weather

Yesterday was quite uncomfortable even though the temps were a little cooler.  Today will see higher temperatures and possible storms.  We did get a brief shower around 9:30 this morning but it only dropped 0.03″ in my gauge.  There were heavier storms to our north and there are some pretty dramatic pictures of shelf clouds taken in various areas.  The picture that I’m using for my feature image was taken this morning near Birch Run.  I didn’t see one here…

We haven’t had any substantial rainfall now for almost a week and there are still areas of my yard that are like a sponge.  One would think that with temps in the mid to upper 80s that the ground would dry up quickly.  This entire week is expected to remain hot and dry with just the chance of pop up thunderstorms possible.  The forecast for Independence Day looks good, and even if there are a few storms that develop, it…

We have one storm passing to our north at this time.  We had wind but no rain from it.   The past two days have been very warm with highs in the upper 80s.  Today is expected to be the same.  The humidity was quite low Wednesday and Thursday which felt comfortable, but today will be a different story, and conditions will be right for severe weather to develop.  This will be a “keep your eye to the sky” type day. …

Yesterday was a perfect summer day, warm and breezy.  Some storms developed late in the day, and I received a weather alert from one of my weather apps, that a strong thunderstorm was approaching our area.  As I watched it on radar, most of it fell apart or diminished significantly before reaching us.  All we got was 0.02″ of rain and no thunder or lightning.  The humidity was quite low so that’s probably why.  Today is expected to be about…

We couldn’t have asked for a nicer weekend.  Temperatures were warm, there were light winds, and low humidity.  It was absolutely lovely.  But then last night, more rain moved in and that seems to be what we can expect for today.  There was 0.12″ in my gauge this morning and rain is in the forecast for most of the day.,  We should see a drying out period the remainder of the week and temperatures should be in the normal range…

The past two days have brought flooding rains to the state, and we are finally going to get a couple of dry days.  Our total rainfall since Thursday night was 1.84″.  Many areas of the state received 2-3 inches.  None of the fields in this area have been touched and many have ponds standing in them.  This is a tragic growing season for the farmers to be sure.  We keep hoping that the rains will end but it just keeps…
