The past two days have brought flooding rains to the state, and we are finally going to get a couple of dry days. Our total rainfall since Thursday night was 1.84″. Many areas of the state received 2-3 inches. None of the fields in this area have been touched and many have ponds standing in them. This is a tragic growing season for the farmers to be sure. We keep hoping that the rains will end but it just keeps…
It started raining yesterday afternoon and has continued through this morning. So far, we have received 1.33″ and it’s still coming down. To make matters worse, my dog, Cinnamon, has injured her back and has lost all control of her back legs. This is a common problem in dachshunds and I just don’t think that I can deal with it again. I went through this with another dog. So I may be taking her into the Vet to have her…
I can’t ever remember a period when it rains every day like it has this spring. It just won’t quit! We were supposed to have 3-4 days of dry weather this week and that has already changed to a chance of rain almost every day. We have parts of our yard that haven’t been mowed at all this year because it won’t dry up. I guess complaining won’t help but it really needs to stop. At least we got a…
Looking at the radar, it appears that most of the rain is right over my area,. Fortunately, it isn’t large so I don’t think that it will last too long. Regardless, we don’t need anymore rain. None of the farmers around here have done any planting. Most of the fields are untouched. The corn is supposed to be knee high by the fourth of July, and it isn’t even planted. I don’t recall things ever being this bad for farmers. …
It seems like my blogs are quite redundant with the same conditions almost everyday. Rain, rain, rain. I must admit that yesterday was mostly dry but there were a few drops in my gauge this morning. Most of the rain stayed to our north yesterday and I was happy for that. We have showers and possible thunderstorms in the forecast for today, and everyday going forward has the chance of rain. Will it ever end? I never did get all…
This morning is sunny and beautiful, but unfortunately, it won’t last long. More showers are in the forecast for tonight. I guess we’ll just enjoy the sun while we have it It will be breezy today so maybe that will dry it up some. Our 9 AM temperature is 57°F (14°C), the humidity is 67%, and winds are from the west at 9 mph. Skies are clear and visibility is 10 miles. The pressure is 30.01 in (1016.3 mb) and…
Most of us are wondering if summer will ever happen this year. Once again we have temperatures much below normal, and it seems that the rain will never stop. We received another quarter of an inch overnight. We’ve been having to mow the lawn about every four days and parts of the yard can’t be mowed because it won’t dry up. Many of the fields around us haven’t been touched yet and they should have been planted a month ago. …
Tuesday was beautiful, both in Northern Michigan and lower portions of the state. We drove home yesterday and had to detour around one road which had been washed out by Sunday’s storms. There is more rain in the forecast today but mainly up north. I’m glad that we decided to come home yesterday. I can’t really complain as our weather up there was wonderful most of the week. Our 11:30 AM temperature is 76°F (24°C), the humidity is 44% and…
After the clouds cleared away yesterday, it turned into quite a nice day. The morning was cold, windy, and damp, but the sky began to clear about 5 PM and the evening was very pleasant. We took advantage of it and had our last campfire for this trip. We were supposed to leave tomorrow, but there is another rain system moving it tonight, so we decided to leave today rather than having to pack up in the rain. Some areas…
Yesterday began with a little sun and very mild temperatures. Then the rains came around mid afternoon, becoming very heavy by nightfall. I don’t have a rain gauge here but I know that what we received had to be well over an inch. Looking at the CocoRahs reports from near by stations, they are reporting anywhere from 1.35″ to 1.5″. The rain has moved off now but winds have picked up and it is not a nice morning. Tomorrow is…
